Just wondering ... Has any player won the MVP in a season in which he missed a month of play due to injury?

Or will Frank be the first?

Or will Frank be the first? Barroid played in only 130 games in 2003 when he won it. Farther back, Thomas and Bagwell won in 1994 playing only 113 and 110 games, respectively.

Some of that was probably sympathy for the passing of his father. I remember that he missed the games to be with his dad as he was dying.

OK. Here's a few more:

George Brett (1980) 117 games (lowest I could find)
Rickey Henderson (1990) 136 games
Juan Gonzalez (1996) 134 games

No. 2 - thanks for the info.

I guess the award was fair in 1980 when Brett had more RBIs than games played (118) and hit .390 with a .454 obp - that would qualify him for an MVP in my book.

Oooo. That makes me think.

Dan Patrick (according to another thread) said Thomas would be a sure-fire HOF member is he had 3 MVP awards. Thinking about it now, Thomas really should have 4. 1992, 1993, 1994, 2000. He should be a HOF member.
