Wow.

Zambrano
Maddux
Dempster
Rusch?
Mitre?

Now that's a dominating rotation.

Dempster hasn't pitched more than 120 innings since 2001, when he went with a 4.94 ERA.

It is if they don't have Pujols, Walker, Rolen, Edmonds backing it up.

That rotation is worse than what we trotted out there in 2001 and 2002.

I think the North Sider team this year is a sinking ship. Unfortunetly we are going to have to hear about it the whole year. I expect Dusty to be gone by mid-season.

Really? Are you actually all that impressed by the career ERAs of 4.93, 4.99, 6.86? The career WHIPs of 1.45, 1.56, 1.82? Or maybe it's the career BAAs of .291, .271, .337? That's the #s of Mitre, Dempster, & Rusch.

For comparison, I give you Jon Garland and his career totals of 4.68ERA / 1.44WHIP / .268BAA. And that's in the AL at USCF, not in the NL where the 3 Chubbies have spent most/all of their careers. Can you imagine the reaction here if we had 3 Jon's making up the bottom of the rotation???:o:

About the only thing the Cubs can point to with these 3 is that a)in April, hopefully scoring will be down anyway, and b)so far it doesn't look like Wood & Priori will miss significant time. But that is an absolutely Horrid rotation.

I expect Dempster to get absolutely rocked in the season just as he has been in ST, and I expect Rusch to go back to his normal self.....1-12 7.00era

Hmm. I hadn't read that Prior and Wood were out for the season.

Good to know.

Dempster is not a three but he's not a bad pitcher, I wouldn't mind him as a 4 or a 5. Rusch has looked absolutely horrible this spring, just like a Brewer again. However he relies heavily on his breaking stuff, and Arizona could just be causing him trouble. Though I think Rusch is better suited to be in the bullpen. Mitre is barely a major leaguer.

If Wood and Prior are out for an extended period, say two months, they are gonna have to make some trades for pitching. But there is never pitching available early in the season and it's gonna cost them a lot of prospects.

That rotation is a joke. It goes from being one of the best in baseball to being very mediocre if both Prior and Wood are out.

You know, the Sox really need to take advantage of any potential crappy season by the flubs. there's a whole lotta Cub-fan money that they'd love to have so they can sign more top-flight people or keep the ones they have (insert "Paul Konerko" here). the Sox really need to be motivated to kick some major butt this year and take the town back. We had it in the early 90's and we lost it, time to make this a Sox town.

Add to this the fact that Hawkins is probably the closer again.

The wheels look like they're starting to fall off...

LOL. I'm ashamed that I drafted Dempster in the WSI league because of his potential role as closer, but I'm gonna drop him in a few minutes now. This guy is as mediocre as it gets when it comes to starting.

That rotation is ugly. The Cubbies better hope Prior and Wood are back before May or that team is going nowhere with that staff.

wait a minute hangar, do you write for the tribune? The Nl Central might be weak, but no weaker than the al central. Yet if we had that rotation, you would be steaming at the ears for JR to spend some money and get us a 3-5th starter.
