Reports in a Colorado Newspaper state that the Sox are interested in acquiring Rockies reliever Gabe White. The package would include Royce Clayton. Heres the story from ESPN Insider along with the link to the newspaper...

ChiSox and Rockies may be dealing

The Rockies may be set to send reliever Gabe White to the White Sox.

The Rocky Mountain News reports that Colorado may deal White, who had an outstanding season in 2000 but has struggled this year (44.2 IP, 7.05 ERA), to the White Sox for a package that may include light-hitting shortstop Royce Clayton.

Two Chicago scouts were in attendance when White had a strong outing on Tuesday, and one of those scouts will be on hand when the Rockies open a four-game series tonight in L.A.

whatever gets Royce out of Chicago is fine by me.

Yeah, in White's defense though he does pitch in Coors. Can any of you stat genious' dig up White's road stats, and his home stats so we can see the difference?

White has had a lot of success at the major league level (even in Colorado), and if it gets rid of Royce, do it as soon as possible.

Am i the only one who realizes that Royce is a valuable member of the white sox???

He's 29 years old... He's pitched 19.1 road innings with 10 ER About a 4.65 ERA

I don't understand Kenny's infatuation with 30 year old career middle relievers. I'd rather get some prospects.

I don't think clayton's particularly valuable; however, with jose hurt, we have no one on the team, or in our organization, who can play a competent SS. Perhaps kenny has a trade in the works for the young stud I've been longing for.

A bad pic for a bad shortstop.

Sure he is--since late-May. Nobody was worse when the games really mattered. Does your fantasy league take that into account?

So the question is, "Who should play shortstop?" That's the only position Royce is good for. Given a choice between him and Valentin, I think the answer is obvious.

And yes, I blame Kenny Williams for creating this train wreck in the first place. Once he re-signed Valentin, trading for Clayton became pointless. Williams went ahead with the deal anyway, probably to cover his *** after looking foolish in the ARod sweepstakes.

I wouldn't mind seeing Valentin as second base either, but that's a separate discussion.

I would have liked to see KW jump a little sooner and get White and Perez in the same deal.

I got to tell you, he looks at home in that purple jersey...

Think of the numbers Royce could put up in Coors. No pitcher would be safe.

Royce in purple? Hmmm....How about adding a third person into this pic?

Official splits...
4.66 Road ERA
8.88 Home ERA
He's given up 4 er on 11 IP in July this year

White can't be worse than Embree, and I don't want to see Royce one more at bat. Plus, White was a stud last year, maybe he'll get it back.

well, who plays SS since jose seems to be battling a hammy problem. i dont think he can stay healthy the rest of the way. hammy's are pretty tricky and can linger a long time. if KW does trade, i would have to think that he is trying to get another SS cause we really dont have anyone in the minors that are that good at SS. i'd rather keep royce for now instead of letting Liu or who ever to come up. IMO.

although maybe if the Alex Cora trade goes...
