Here's an update on Mr. Reed....

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/baseball/214451_mari04.html

It'll be interesting to see who really made out in the trade after a whole season....

Hmm, Freddy Garcia or Jeremy Reed. Unproven rookie outfielder, or a#1 or 2 pitcher easily capable of winning 20 games. Gimme a break.

Just this morning I was wondering if we got the best of that trade.

I just like to revisit the past and play make believe on my play station. My team has Reed, Olivo, Garcia and Baines as a bench coach/DH.

Generally we save talk like this for other forums dude.

The Sox have plenty of outfielders, Reed wasn't even the best of them, Anderson was. Let it go.

Here's an update on Mr. Reed....

That's great, mikey. Thanks for the update.
:kukoo:

The only "Mr. Reed" update I'm interested in is that for Chicago bluesman Jimmy Reed. You got any news for us on that front? Last I heard he was still dead.

:muddy
"Jimmy was from Gary. I bet he was a Sox Fan same as me!"

How about Jody Reed, former Red Sox second sacker? Whatever happened to him?

http://g-images.amazon.com/images/G/01/x-locale/common/customer-reviews/stars-5-0.gif Big Boss Man, The Best of Jimmy Reed, A Significant Man of the Blues--How Did He Manage?, When white folks used to say that they couldn't understand the words of a blues song, they might well have been talking about Mathis James Reed born in the 1920s in Mississippi. Also Jimmy Reed did not have nearly the musical ability on the tools of the trade, guitar and harmonica, that his contemporaries had. And he suffered from epilepsy but was such an unabashed drunk that his malady was not diagnosed for years as he seemed just to have the predictable "DTs"(delirium tremens) from his excessive use of alcohol. It's said that his friend and collaborator Eddie "Playboy" Taylor used to nudge him when it was time for him to sing or to play his blues harp. Reed's own wife ("Mama Reed") can be heard singing along with him on some recordings as he would often forget the words. So how did he put a dozen or more songs on the Top 100 (more than any of the other arguably more talented bluesmen of the time?) Simple beats, easy-to-remember words and it was clearly the heartfelt blues. His "Big Boss Man" is a classic and was appropriated successfully by Charlie Rich to the point it was almost Rich's theme song. "Bright Lights, Big City" was another heartfelt tune. Elvis Presley recorded Jimmy's "Ain't That Lovin' You, Baby" as well as others. More good ones by JR include "Baby, What You Want Me to Do?" and "Take Out Some Insurance". They are all included in this package. Pay the fair price for those named tunes and the rest is gravy, a kind of "easy listening" blues. You won't think it's anybody but Jimmy Reed. "Mama Reed" was still with him when he died in 1976 in his early 50s. This is his legacy.

Lou Reed's "The Raven" was the worst thing recorded since "Machine Metal Music". His career will never recover.

I agree that the constant Jeremy Reed threads are a bit annoying, but I'm afraid the poor guy is becoming hated for stuff out of his control. I really like Jeremy Reed, I hope he tears it up and becomes an All Star in Seattle, because he's a smart guy and a hard worker. I'm rooting for him, but that said, we don't need another thread on him every other day!
