The Cubune gives the Cubs the cover today. You can sense the fear
the Cubune has with the possibility of Wood(s) being injured.
Nice SOX Puff piece on Iguchi in the Cubune today!

I was happy with the Sox coverage today. I thought the article at the bottom of the back page was a good read. Title: THE WHITE SOX CUBAN CONNECTION, B.C.--BEFORE CASTRO

Two hilarious bits from the article:

Before departing, [Hector Rodriguez] got [Minnie] Minoso to co-sign for a car loan. Loan company officials, some time later, came after Minoso for the money. Minoso's response: "Minnie sign paper saying Hector nice fellow. Minnie no sign saying Minnie pay." :D:

Sandy Consuegra went 16-3 in '54 but was hospitalized with hives the final week, when he needed three more innings to qualify for the AL percentage title. He arrived at Comiskey covered with lotion, pronounced himself fit, pitched three shutout innings, then said he was returning to the hospital: "Me itch," he said. Manager Marty Marion replied: "You itch with us the rest of the season. Then you can go home and itch all winter."

I didn't see that online. Did anyone else?

Regarding Minnie, I thought this was funny...

Among his 1952 duties: interpreter for Hector Rodriguez.

No doubt Minnie does a decent job translating English to Spanish but Minnie translating Spanish to English? I've spoken with Minnie, well I've tried...
