Never too early to start a thread like this. Who is going?
I think it would be awesome to have another Opening Day Tailgate ....
By the way, anyone have extra Lower Deck Tickets?

I'll be standing in my usual spot by the Dip'n Dots behind the RF pole in my new Ozzie 1983 Home White. Chompin' at the bit right now.

I will be tailgating bright and early, hopefully it will be sunny. I know it won't be warm cause hey, its Chicago.

I got 5 lower deck seats, but no extras.

My old man (the Cub fan) is using our season ticket seats and I am stuck up in the upper deck. THey are solid seats though will a great view. I will be there bright and early to tailgate too. I am 95% of the time in the parking lot South of 37th street, but if I am early enough I will be in the one that is just South of the stadium.

Why, is the game already sold out? If so, I'll be going to the second game of the year.

I think there's just scattered singles.

As usual, Henry showed up for class unprepared.:bandance:

I plan on tailgating, but have never done that before. How early can we get there and is there anyone who is also tailgating that may want to meet up before and drive in together so we can get a few cars next to each other?

My other ticket holder may be backing out of opening day to go to work.
If you don't mind going with me, you can buy the ticket if she does back out.

How early can we get there and is there anyone who is also tailgating that may want to meet up before and drive in together so we can get a few cars next to each other? The parking lots normally open a half hour before the gates do (2 hr before game time). I believe they open the lots even earlier for opening day.

Do most WSIers tailgate near Gate 2?

Carefull with those I was sitting in the Upperdeck, I think it was 2 years ago, for the rain delay opener and almost got struck by lightning when it hit the roof... I've been to the past two openers (just moved into Chicago 2 years ago) and haven't had one with even remotely nice weather yet... The Beer helps you deal wth it though!:gulp:

connections for that. South Parking lot, right by the entrance to the BP Bar ...

I'll be in section 157 in LF near the Sox bullpen. I believe it is one of the first sections to get the "green" treatment too so I'll be the first to sit in the fabled green seats, LOL. I can already smell those Best's Kosher dogs w/grilled onions and my favorite old guy program/scorecard seller yelling "HEY NOW! LINE UP!" :D:

Hope we get some decent weather for Opening Day. Last year wasn't too shabby, it was a bit chilly but at least it was sunny. 2003 was ridiculous with the rain, and 2001 and 2002 were insanely cold. 2000 was the last Opening Day I can remember where we had 70 degree weather.

Coincidence? I think not. Good weather on Opening Day = Playoffs. I'm gonna do some actual research to find out of that's true

Well I was trying to get data from 83 - 04. I can only get back to 1998. Since in 98, it was nice and we went 80-82. So there's no weather correlation that goes with Sox success, but it sure would be nice to tailgate in sunny weather on April 4:smile:

Was that the last year it was nice weather on opening day? I remember it being absolutely miserable on opening day one year, can't remember the year, and then really nice the next two days.

In 2000 it was 76 out.....which was by far the nicest day in the last 6 years. The next nicest day was in 1998 when it was 62.

WE BETTER HAVE NICE WEATHER THIS YEAR!

Sad
03-10-2005, 10:49 AM
ChiSoxMike- one thing nice about being Row 32 (or around there) down the baselines in early spring, is you're far enough back to feel some warmth from the concourse and will be dry if it's a drizzly day... at least that's what I remember from past spring games that were chilly...

hope the weather is decent
I'll be there for the Thursday finale vs. Cleveland...

I have the nicest seats I have ever sat in for a sox game for opening day. My aunt was able to score two rows worth of tickets for six row behind the Sox dugout. My aunt has some cool things to celebrate, so we got really lucky to get the seats.

Let's make sure to let everyone know where to tailgate. I'll brings some of my family and some beer.

Thanks,

I scored a single seat in the 5th row of 522 above first base this week, so I'll be there. Looking forward to it since I haven't been to an opener since 2000 (beautiful weather and sat in the second row of the club level for Sox/Angels - that ticket cost $22 which is the same price I just paid to sit one level higher and would now cost $45). Hmm, club level tickets have doubled in price since 2000 - I wonder why no one is sitting there most of the time?
