Now that the Media have once again Failed to get Ron Santo in the Hall Of Fame, the articles that DOMINATE the papers today are all scalding articles
calling for a change in the way guys are let in, and the obligatory Poor-Ronnie-This-Is-a-Travesty fluff pieces. The SOX did manage to get the cover pics in the Cubune though! We'll probably get a few more days of Shameful-Ron-not-in-hall-bs pieces before it dies down ...thank god.

The Media has been angered. I heard some BS today that Ron Santo
FOR SURE, will make it next time, into the Hall of Fame ....... as if the
Chicago Media has quietly acknowledged they are going to TRY EVEN HARDER
TO GET HIM IN. what bs.

Downey writes a Poor-Ronnie piece today, and also mentions the names
of some other HOF Hopefuls who should be in also. What struck me about
one of the names, Minnie Minoso, is the fact that Minoso played for the White Sox, a team that is merely 8miles SOUTH of where the cubs play, and a team that Resides in the very SAME CITY. Why arent we seeing the Daily Media Articles on why Minnie should be in the HOF? peculiar huh?
Jay Moronotti also writes a Poor-Ronnie piece.

Cubune:
4 cub stories
2 sox stories
Cub-Times:
5 cub stories
2 sox stories

CUBS 50

Various radio shows are lamenting the fact that the poor flubbies
never won anything, otherwise "poor ronnie" are in. Much ado
keeps being made (prophesising??) about "how close" marble-mouthed
Santo got this time, and that hes going to get in ......... as if this
were a marathon race or something ...........

I also like how the Score am 670 keeps pumping up the fact
to tune in mornings, to hear Cubs spring training reports with Steve Stone.
Why dont the SOX have a special reporter, calling in daily with reports?
Why?

Adjust your tinfoil, Henry.

Stone talks Cubs and Sox equally, at least from what I have heard so far.

Even a writer in the Arizona Republic had a "poor Ronnie" article today. Unbelievable.

I don't think Stone talks Cubs and Sox equally but I think that has more to do with the hosts when he's on than anything. Even during Bores and Bernstein they use him to rip on the Cubs for all the crap that has been going on lately and not to talk about the new Sox team.
It is funny to hear Stone rip on the Cubs now though.

If not, an asterisk is required.

There is no way he is going to get in, in 2007. By that time there are going to be a ton more umpries, anouncers, players, etc added to the list. He should never get in, and I think that it is looking bleaker than ever.

(adjusts foil) No he doesnt. Well, another poster did say
that his talking cub has to do with the Hosts asking him cub questions
instead of baseball questions, which I agree. Id love to hear
his take on SOX related stuff, from an outsiders point of view.

Ive heard him maybe 3 times so far ........ and its been All-Cub.
Also, the Score has pre-recorded commercial trailers ......
boasting of "Steve Stone, talks Cubs Baseball!!".
Havnt heard the commercial trailer "Steve Stone talks SOX onthe Score!" yet ...

Those are the days the Sox are in the papers about 45 times and the Cubs are only mentioned once because of Sosa.

I've heard Stone on Boers and Bernstein and heard him talk both Sox and Cubs baseball. As far as advertisements go, its on obvious attempt to appeal to Cubs fans who are Stone fans. In the public's eyes, Stone has strong connection with Cubs, so the advertising department is just playing that up.

Exactly. I won't fault Stone for talking more extensively about the Cubs, simply because he's been part of their organization for so long and knows the team inside and out. He calls a spade a spade, which is a hell of a lot more than I can say about Cubbie Crackwhore Mike Murphy. I don't listen to Media Troll North and mostly avoid the deadly dull Telander show (someone tell me, why does Doug Buffone have a radio show, when he can't even string together a coherent sentence?), so most of my Stone time has been on Boers & Bernstein, and I've really enjoyed what I've heard.

Yeah, just like they "had one" when the Cubune had a Prior watch.

I thought the same thing untill I read that other thread about Stone not knowing about Everette's weight loss. It seems that he doesn't even attempt to report about the Sox not even going to the Sox ST.
