Published reports stated that Frank Thomas could be arriving in Sox camp as early as tomorrow morning. Has anyone heard any additional information about this? Thomas had his ankle examined sometime within the past week. I'm axious to see the progress that he has made.

Farmer said he thought he saw Frank at the airport yesterday so he might be there already.

Last week, KW said Frank's doctor's appointment was March 3. Unless they moved it up, I wouldn't expect to see the big guy until Friday at the earliest.

(See I'm addressing you directly... )

That's a very good question, things seem to have been very quiet about that subject the past week or so. Maybe we'll know more at the end of the week. If not, I'd guess there has been a further delay.

You don't "think you saw Frank." If you saw Frank you know it. Anyone who's been within 20 feet of the man knows what I'm talking about. He towers over everybody. I don't really know what to make of the comment, but all published reports had Thomas in LA on Thursday getting his ankle looked at by a specialist out there and then being evaluated. Who knows though.

Well, he said he was in the Las Vegas airport, and he saw a huge bald man from behind that he thought might have been Frank. He was going to go "tackle" him to see if it was him, but Farmio was running late and needed to board the plane. That was his story. Like you said, you would recognize Frank Thomas if you saw him, so maybe he is just as recognizable from behind.

Ah, I see. Maybe he was on his way to LA. That would make sense. I really can't wait to see the big guy in uniform. I keep thinking if he gets to camp in the next week or so maybe he'll be ready for April 4th. Maybe not, I know this is a funky injury and all. But that would be great.

And Bill(in the spirit of hijacking threads), I'm going to my first Illini basketball game tomorrow night! And I don't have any classes during the White Sox broadcast. And Mac Jurko and Harry are going to be at Legends tomorrow before the basketball game. Tomorrow's shaping up to be a good one.

Lucky you on getting the tickets and not having classes. I will be up all night reporting on Beowulf for HISTORY, dont ask me why. Thanks for the heads up.

In a word...gross. Wanna know when I first studied Beowulf? 6th grade. About 12 years before I had any business reading it. The whole experience really soured my taste for classic literature, although I don't mind a little Oedipus Rex once in awhile.

I think ChiSoxTony was there also, trying to listen in on Frank's cell phone call.

OK, so he'll have missed what - 2-3 weeks? Sounds like a guy who could be ready by mid-late April, expecially given his experience and DH status.

Outstanding news.

Not likely to happen, but it would be hilarious if Frank started a game before Ordoņez.

Yes, it would. Hooray for Frank!

Considering the generally poor weather in April, the Sox play at Detroit and Kansas City that month in addition to home games, I wouldn't rush things.

That ankle is liable to be very sensative and sore in cold, damp weather.

Here's a report (http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20050303&content_id=955762&vkey=spt2005news&fext=.jsp&c_id=cws)

Herm said that there is, "no, no, no, no, no timetable,"

Whatever the heck that means.

I'm sure Everett can fill in for Frank and carry the load against those mighty Royal and Tiger pitching staffs. I just want Frank to be ready for a long season. We don't need him to go on the DL in mid-May.
