I'm pretty sure the Sox' first spring training game is tomorrow (Thursday), and not today (Wednesday).

I'm pretty sure the Sox' first spring training game is tomorrow (Thursday), and not today (Wednesday).Wrong...

Look at the main page of WhiteSox.com (http://www.whitesox.com/).
Sox ready to start spring slate Wednesday (http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20050301&content_id=953824&vkey=spt2005news&fext=.jsp&c_id=cws)

With nearly two weeks of drills behind them, the White Sox are excited to step closer to Opening Day on Wednesday with their first Spring Training game vs. the Rockies.

Will there be a pre or post-game show? I assume the Sox will need to announce Willsy's replacement pretty soon.

This morning they were saying coverage starts at 1:55, so it sounds like there is a 10-minute pre-game. Perhaps just Rooney & Farmio? Man is it going to feel good to hear their voices again! :bandance:

I could be wrong, but I believe that no MLB games can be webcast anymore. You have to go thru mlb.com and pay $14.95 and listen thru their website.

I think they webcast pre-season game for "free" after you subscribe for the season.

Yep, the two links provided bring you to the mlb.com pay site that tells you that ST games are free with a subscription.

if it's over port 80 which it probably is (no reason to secure a simple radio feed), your firewall shouldn't block it. Look in the address bar for something like:

mlb.com:5656/radiocast/blahblah/

if there is a : and a weird number, then it may be blocked as most network admins I know block anything outside of ports 21, 43 and 80. If your work runs oracle or some larger ERP system like PeopleSoft or SCT Banner, then many ports like 6666, etc will be open.

If you're thinking of paying to get the webcasts, and you have a DSL connection, consider signing up for MSM Premium. It costs about $9.50 per month and you get the first three months for free. You get MLB-TV and MLB radio for all games. I got it last year and was basically pretty happy, especially compared to MLB's prices.

per the AM1000 website...

Due to team rights agreements, ESPN 1000 is prohibited from streaming play-by-play broadcasts of White Sox baseball, Bulls basketball and Notre Dame football and basketball. You can pay to access those broadcasts at mlb.com (http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/nasapp/mlb/mlb/audio/gda/index.jsp?c_id=cws), nba.com (http://www.nba.com/insideticket/index.html) and und.collegesports.com (http://und.collegesports.com/multimedia/nd-multimedia.html), respectively.

Here's the URL for today's boradcast:
http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/mediaplayer/frameset.jsp

Its on port 80 which is for HTTP (21 for FTP, 43 for SSL) so any firewall allowing internet activity will not block it.
