:minnie :minnie Minnie Minoso or Dick Allen. Minnie is a all time great white sox player and it would sure be nice. Dick Allen was Probably the best player in a white sox uniform the short time he was here. But I guess I would have to pick Minnie.

Minnie should be in. Allen could be in. Minnie would wear a Sox uni, Allen would wear a Phils uni.

Minnie should get in, and I would pull for him first, because he spent more time in a Sox uni.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I distinctly remember both Minnie and Billy Pierce being 'eliminated' from further consideration by the veterans committee last year.

In fact I called Billy right afterwards to offer my regrets.

I remember reading a story I think in the Tribune, that stated that even with the veterans committee you are only allowed consideration for so many years.

I hope I'm wrong but I don't think Billy or Minnie have any more chances and that's a travesty.

If Billy Pierce wore a Yankees, Red Sox, or even a Cubs jersey, he would be in the hall. It is a joke that he isn't there with the numbers and career he had.

I hope Minoso makes it. It's a shame the local media isn't behind him the way they are for the shameless self promoter Ron Santo. If he got half that coverage locally, perhaps Minoso would have a shot.

I also think the following players have been overlooked and should be in the HOF

Tommy John

Bert Blyleven

Al Oliver

Jim Rice

Dick Allen

Bill Buckner

Vada Pinson

Ron Santo

Minnie Minoso

Minoso should be in. When consideration is taken that his major league career got off to a rather late start in his life, Minnie is a definate Hall of Famer.
Santo can yearn all he wants, I'd take Minoso before Santo any day.

Edit: Just an interesting side note: it finally happened. At 4:40am, I was the only member on line. :o:

Minnie would get my vote. Didn't Allen walk out on the team? Time heals all wounds, but if that's true, I wouldn't vote for him. I always thought Tiant was HOF material. Santo was a real good ballplayer, but familiarity breeds contempt. Rose would get my vote. I'd prefer that he remained banned from MLB otherwise. Sort of like that Twilight Zone episode where the bookworm gets his silence after a nuclear war, but then breaks his glasses.

I have to go with Minnie, If Santo does get in it will be because of his time spent on the SOX!!!:gulp:

Got to go with Minnie..He led the AL in Hit by Pitch twice...1954 he was clocked SIXTY times! ..Talk about taking one for the team! Aside from his otherwise sensational stats and his time spent excelling in the Negro Leagues, this is a Ballplayer who's inclusion in the Hall is overdue.

Secondly..I'd like to see the greatest 3rd baseman on this years list to be voted in..Ken Boyer of the St. Louis Cardinals. He was one of my childhood favorites!

And.......a former member of the Sox, albeit for a short time and toward the end of his career.

Tommy John isn't in.

Maybe if Tommy John had played for the Dodgers in addition to the Yankees, he would be there. That was sarcasm. I just can't find a color labeled teal.

I am serious, though, when I write I don't think Minoso belongs. And I've twice enjoyed sitting next to him at ballgames I paid to see.

I thought it was just a typical chicago electoral ballot.

You get two choices:

Minnie Minoso,

or

Minoso, Minnie

Pierce 18 Yr WL% .555 W211 L169 SO 1999 SHO 38 ERA 3.27
Tiant 19 Yr WL% .571 W229 L172 SO 2416 SHO 49 ERA 3.30

I didn't say better but at least equal to Pierce.
