View Full Version : My Experiment

I'm registering at a bunch of MLB fansites to get a look at the perspectives of fans of other teams (but not at NSBB). So far the results are thus:
Marlins: nice welcome
A's: there was an "initiation" that consisted largely of a direct personal insult using a certain word that cannot be uttered here...not a turn on.
Reds: No response to my post
Brewers: Fairly cold, but they'll get used to me
Orioles, Yankees: Waiting for validation of account
I was already registered at the Cardinals one. They were nice too.

Which Marlins site? If it's a certain one, there's a certain Mod on that site who still has some nasty bruises in certain areas after certain WSI members depantsed and humiliated him for acting like an ass at the time a certain useless closer was shipped from Chicago to Florida.

Marlinsbaseball.com.
An update:
Reds: Nice welcome
Orioles: Had the gall to actually cancel my membership without me ever having posted
Yankees: Got an e-mail that says I was validated, but it still won't let me post. (?)

I was unclear on your experiment so I went to see the post firsthand on the Marlins board:

I'm registering at a bunch of baseball fansites to get an idea of perspectives of other teams' fans. I hope I can leave as much as I take away.
btw, that's White Sox not Red Sox
whitesoxinteractive.com is my home. We have a resident Red Sox fan, which is what gave me the idea to go and register at other teams' sites. I was browsing before and I noticed you have a bunch of my fellow Sox fans. (Hangar I know you're here somewhere...)

As you've designated yourself a WSI ambassador, represent us well.

That one dude, PhishPhan, is quite a character. I'd like to think that posts like that around here would have gotten him a quick "he gawn."

Just don't tell them I sent you (not that they won't figure it out if you decide to post there). You can view my red carpet welcome in the "Chylan like Dylan" forum under Asox014.

I was thinking just that. I'm not the only WSIer over there as I mentioned in my first post. There are at least two others, and I can't imagine a WSI user getting in trouble on any other board with the strict rules we have here. The last thing I want is to bring shame on our site.

I've also registered at a number of team sites. Here's some you may want to check out:

Rangers: http://newbergreport.com/
Braves: http://braves.scout.com/index.html
Astros: http://www.orangewhoopass.com/bbs/ubbthreads.php?Cat

I personally am looking for someone who knows of a good site for Pirates, Royals, Rockies, Giants, and Dodgers.

You can check out this site (http://www.dodgerblues.com/) for the Dodgers.

www.cardsclubhouse.com is the best baseball message board, IMO besides WSI. The people are really friendly and galdly accept me being a sox and cardinals fan.

Wow, A's fans are brutal...reading your post just created a hate inside me for the A's and their immature fans.

BTW...what's the Brewers fan site?

Holy crap, I knew you said the A's fans were bad but that was RIDICULOUS. Totally unneccessary. It's like every veteran member of the board is a troll. Apparently they are just testing your patience.

I checked out the A's site briefly. There was one thread where they complained about preseason power rankings. That doesn't sound familiar. But then someone said the A's should be ranked in the top 5 by the end of the season. I have to disagree with that guy. Maybe next year.

The best Brewers site I know is Brewerfan.net.

That A's board was hilarious...Apparently their language filters are broken

Anyway, I might join up and see what they got for me...Itll be a good laugh anyway

I wouldnt waste my time at that oakland board. Sure they may have some good baseball talk, but I wouldnt want to spend time over there to find it. Its almost as bad as the IGN message boards.

Wow...that's an awesome welcome. I'm registered at a Tigers fansite, but they are in mad love with Maggs, and a few of them disparage the Sox(Apparently, they haven't gotten over our whooping their a**).

WHAT? :o: I...THEY...NO! IT CAN'T BE POSSIBLE! EVERY YANKEE FAN I'VE EVER MET HAS BEEN A SHALLOW BANDWAGONING POSER WHO ACTED LIKE BEING A YANKEE FAN SOMEHOW MADE THEM A GREAT PERSON. YOU KNOW, 26 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS...BEST TEAM IN BASEBALL HISTORY...PINSTRIPES, TRADITION, THE STADIUM...HOW COULD THAT NOT MAKE THEM A GREAT PERSON?

THE PEOPLE ON THAT BOARD ARE DOWNRIGHT NICE.
IT'S...NOT...POSSIBLE...AAUGH... :thud:

My principle in high school who I've kept in contact with is a Yankee's fan, and he's extremely nice too. I think it comes with knowing that your team is going to win more games than anyone else every year, so you don't have to get in heated arguments to prove that your team is good. Just point to the flags...you don't even have to say a word. No other team in baseball has that ability.

If the Sox were to win 26 championships, heck, I'd even be nice to Cubs fans!

I see the thrill of the f-word hasn't worn off in Oakland yet. I'd guess the board slows to a crawl when the Beavis and Butt-head reruns come on.

I've to New York twice and expected them to be jerks because of all the garbage you hear but they have always been very nice so it doesn't shock me too much but after reading the Oakland board it was surprising. Those people are barely human. They are the reason I hate getting out of bed in the morning.

I just spit my coffee all over the screen when I read East Bay Punk's "welcome" to you on the A's site. That was hilarious- good thing he added the "PS" for you in case his message got lost in his eloquent, verbose welcome to you!

Also pleasantly surprised by the Yanks fans.

I know there are rules about reviving old threads...so my apologies if this violates any of them.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any Nationals message boards out there...if any even exist yet.

Thanks all. :gulp:

Please do, and get things good and riled up. I cant wait until we open up a shock and awe campaign on them in the bay area this year the likes of which they have never seen.
