Anyone catch the photo of Sosa this morning wearing the new Orioles BP hat? It just says "O's" in orange on the black hat, with an orange bill. Looks strange.

When I saw it I thought it was the ugliest thing I've seen. Then again, there is a lot of apparel floating around MLB teams that deserve a one way trip to the garbage.

That is just a spring training hat. It will not be seen during the season.

Wow, they made a hat exclusively for spring training? I assumed it would be the regular BP hat for the entire year.

That probably goes for that powder blue crap that the Mets are wearing as well.

They might also be batting practice gear. The Sox have the Black hats with the silver brim (cool) but they don't wear those during the season/games...just during workouts.

This raises the difficult question of what is more ridiculous: a hat with a totally different design *just* for batting practice or a hat with a totally different design just for spring training?

Of course, teams will render this angels-on-the-head-of-a-pin style question useless when they introduce Spring Training Batting Practice hats next year.

And because I was the official sucker born in one particular minute in 1979, I will spend money on it anyhow.

Thx.

Meh. Looks like the cap of a softball team. Add orange jerseys to complete the horrible look.

You have too much time on your hands... but that's freaking brilliant.

I actually love that new hat. I've liked the O's for a couple of years and wanted them to do good, but now that Sammy's there, he ruined everything. And I can't buy that hat. Damn you, Sammy. You're a life ruiner!

Those hats are ugly. Do the Orioles have a contract with Spaghetti O's or
something?

Actually, those are game caps, not spring training/BP caps. I dont know whey they are wearing them now, but they will wear them with their black alternate jerseys during the season. The BP caps are of a jersey material with holes in them. Also, they have a much lower crown and a different overall look. Those arent BP hats.

It's still weird seeing his roid-ness in an O's uniform...

My boss went to Baltimore and brought me back an Orioles hat as a souvenir (she knows I collect hats). I guess I can now transfer it to the "not in use" bin since I won't wear it anymore.

Some other teams have nice looking BP (ST?) caps (open to debate of course):

A's Elephant Power (http://shop.mlb.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1256834&cp=1452361.1452841)

M's Nautical Compass (http://shop.mlb.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1256839&cp=1452366.1452890)

A's one would be awesome if it didn't have sunglasses. That totally lames it up. Seattle's is awesome.

Thanks -- I couldn't figure out what the black was supposed to be.
