Guillen said pitching prospect Brandon McCarthy reminds him of former White Sox starter Jack McDowell. "I think this kid is not far from the big-league level and he has a chance," Guillen said.

You mean other than Buehrle and Foulke? Oh wait, Foulke wasn't good enough for us. What is he up to now, anyway?

I agree that it would be good to grow more major league pitchers. We dont have the Braves' or the Twins' farm system, but its not like our system hasn't produced ML level talent since McDowell.

No, I remember Hawk constantly talking about Buehrle and how fans should watch out for him even when Wells and Garland were supposedly the can't miss guys.

as i recall (despite what hawk ever said) mark was down the list of upcoming pitchers. he was a surprise developement.

hawk doesn't and never did know much of anything.
