View Full Version : What should Nancy play for Magglio?

While canned music has accompanied White Sox at bats for several years, Nancy Faust still plays songs when opposing batters come to the plate. For example, she'll play "Love Potion No. 9" for opposing players who wear No. 9. Moreover, she has played Olivia Netwon-John's "Physical" when Omar Vizquel comes to the plate.

This leaves us wondering. If Magglio Ordonez's super knee does not give out before April 29, when Detroit makes its '05 USCF debut, what should she play for him when he comes to bat? This could be a fun thread.

My submission, "Lipstick on Your Collar" by Connie Francis (meant to illustrate Ordonez's dumping us in lust for Boras' money)

Probably not a good choice on my part- trying to allude that he's going to be on the DL for the remainder of his career. I know, pretty lame...

If Magglio strikes out in that game, especially with runners on to end the inning, I wouldn't mind hearing the crowd sarcastically break into a certain chant that Magglio is familiar with.

I don't watch The Apprentice but would that be the same as the song the Beatles covered called Money?

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the thread, this song by Elton John would be perfect!

So either,
"The Bitch is Back" by Elton John
or
"Money Talks" by AC/DC

No. It's the one that goes "money, money, money - MONEY!" over and over again, don't remember the name of it.

That cheesy late '80's early '90's song that goes something like: "I want money, lots and lots of money. I want the pie in the sky. I want to be rich."

Can't remember the name but I thought it was something more then "I want money."

Folks, now here's the story 'bout Maggie the Moocher,
She was a low down hootchie-cootcher,
She was the gimpiest, wimpiest fake,
And Maggie had a heart as low as a snake.

(Chorus)
Hi-de-hi-de-hi-di-hi!
Ho-de-ho-de-ho-de-ho!
He-de-he-de-he-de-he!
Ho-de-ho-de-ho!

Now, she signed on with a bloke named Scott,
She loved him ‘cuz he lied a lot,
He took her down to old Motown,
And showed her how to kick her ex-team around.

Chorus

She wanted to be as rich as the king of Sweden,
She’d buy all the things that she was needin',
All she had to do was to make one year,
Then she could buy a new knee with no fear.

Chrous

She bought herself a townhouse and some cars,
Then went and hung out at some bars;
She had a million dollars worth of nickels and dimes,
And she sat around and counted them all a billion times.

Funny! I've had this song in my head all day today (not related to the Maggs affair), and your take on the lyrics is innovative.

While the lyrics might not make it into a chant, who doesn't know Cab Calloway's famous chorus? Although famous for his role in the Blues Brothers, I actually first heard the tune on Sesame Street when I was three or four! Someone really has had to live in a cave to not be familiar with the chorus (even if they don't know the verses or the name of the song), and this is what would make it successful for a song for Nancy to play and for the crowd to chant when Maggs comes to bat as a member of the hated Tigers.

I admit, I didn't even think about how close that chorus is to the Oh-EE-Oh chant

Wouldn't be hard to modify that part of the song to be even more in tune with the whole Maggs thing.

Hi-de-Hi-de-hi-de-hi
Oh-ee-oh-ee-oh-ee-oh
he-de-he-de-he-he
oh-ee-oh-ee-oh-ee-oh
