Sorry if this is a no-no, posting this as a reply in What's the Score but I think is discussion for the clubhouse...


Saw on the Tribune online today another suggestion about signing Barry Larkin for a year to either start or be backup at SS. I saw a few of your opinions, but what do you think of this idea? Do you agree that Uribe is ready for being our every day SS, or do you like the idea of Larkin starting there and Uribe being our utility guy to spell either Crede, Larkin, or Iguchi or being a decent PH bat later in the game?

Larkin's not gonna play for a team that isnt the Reds, he's gonna retire.

And besides that, NO! He had a good year last year, but Uribe will play better D, and hit for a higher average while giving a lot more power. I wouldn't mind having Larkin as a backup, but he wouldn't do that. The search turns elsewhere...
