Even though several college baseball games have been played prior to tonight, tonight is really Opening Night in the college game. Most the the major programs (South, Southwest, West Coast) begin in earnest tonight. If you want to hear the Miami Hurricanes via WQAM as they take on major program High Point, click this link (http://www4.neilrogers.com/listen/) and you'll see where to go the rest of the way.

This kid is a 7'1'' 255 lb. junior reliever that throws in the 90's and is looking to take over Gagne's closer role this season for the Fighting Irish.

Go BAMA! The first year I moved to Alabama the Tide had a new manager, Jim Wells and no one went to the games. My dad and I attended quite a few. They did awsome and the next 4-5 years the crowds grew and grew. College baseball is a heck of a lot of fun.

FSU has started the 2005 season 6-0, with a big weekend series coming up against Auburn.

What's LSU's record this year? The Tigers are ususally pretty good. Maybe we'll see y'all in Omaha?:D:

Just a quick FYI to my Sox brethren. Starting in June 2005, there's a new franchise of the Central Illinois Collegiate League that will play its games at the new Sports Complex at Benedictine University in Lisle. Go to www.dupagedragons.com (http://www.dupagedragons.com/) Their players are coming from the Southwest Conference as well as Cal St Fullerton, Notre Dame and some locals. The talent will be outstanding, the price of a ticket cheap, the stadium is new and the beer will be cold. I am told they've signed four players from Texas Tech, a couple from Arkansas, ND's 2d baseman and a local kid from Florida State. The local kid, Ruari O'Connor [who homered in his first collegiate start] starred at Oak Park River Forest HS. For league information, go to www.ciclbaseball.com (http://www.ciclbaseball.com/) The Northwoods League tried to put a team at the new Benedictine University Stadium. The best college players in America, coming to DuPage County this summer.

ND up 8-1 in the bottom of the 5th in their season opener against Florida A&M.

Irish wide reciever Jeff Samardzija started and is still on the bump .

LF Steve Andres goes DEEEEEEEEP for the Irish with the only dinger of the game so far.

I get the three Fox College Sports channels, and FCS Atlantic has been showing Sun Sports' coverage of the Miami-Florida series. Last night and today's games were great ones with Miami winning last night and Florida winning today in extra innings. The Hurricanes could have gotten out of the 11th inning when the Gators had the bases loaded, but Miami left fielder Jon Jay dropped what would have been the third out.

I'll be seeing live college baseball in now less than two weeks when I'm in Tucson. I'll be seeing Texas take on Arizona at Jerry Kindall Field at Frank Sancet Stadium.

Final score 18-3. I can't wait until March 22nd and thier home opener. I will be out there tailgating for that.

I'm planning to be out there May 18 when ND hosts USC. Every year, I try to see Notre Dame, Illinois, and Northwestern college games.

Green Wave Rules college baseball!!

The Sox 2nd round draft choice last year, Liotta, was terrible with the WAve, couldn't make the rotation, FWIW, went to some Fla community college and apparently pitched a lot better (hopefully he did, since we drafted him).
