I'm going to really go all out with the team attitude," Burnitz said. "I think it all is going to revolve around what we do as a team. Of course the fans are going to love me. They don't even care if you strike out if the team's winning. And that's basically the attitude I'm going to have.

Burnitz has been a Cub for a few hours now, and he already he has a good assumption of Cubs fans.

Hes got Cub Fans PEGGED, heh heh. Whats funny though, is most
Fans in baseball arent as aware as we are. Probably because their
fans live in the same city as us, and we get to witness first-hand,
these Imbeciles. The Chicago Media are bunch of Fickle Fans
themselves, look how they Helped the Tribune (hook line and sinker)
put out all the Anti-Sosa Propoganda .........

Hangar: I remember you mentioned some Cub fan told you they were going to rush out and be the first to buy an Ordoņez Cubs jersey. You should track them down and find out if they ever made that purchase.

He got the Cub feeling backward they don't care if you are winning as long as you hit home runs.

Except for the winning part! What he shoul have said is, "Cubs fans will love me as long as the beer is flowing. It doesn't matter if I strike out a lot as long as the beer is still there! Oh and boobs, as long as there's beer and boobs at that stadium everyone will be happy!"

I saw this quote reading my Tribune(still my paper of choice, even if it's sports isn't the greatest) about an hour ago. Really seemed terribly strange to me. I really have no idea what to make of it. I know if a player signed with the Sox and spouted something like that within the first 6 hours of being a member of the team, we'd be all over him here. Sounds like he's already coming up with an excuse for his 120+ strikeout season. I guess he'll fit right in with the Cubs this season.

I wonder who holds the record for the outfield with the highest combined strikeout total...

This is just a great signing for us Sox fans that hate the Cubs. Did you see his road/home splits? OMG.

Hendry...GM of year?

The only bad thing about this offseason is that the Cubs aren't getting hyped up...they unfortunately won't be on the cover of SI as World Series champions.

They will probably put Pedro and Beltran on the cover and the Mets will implode by the All Star Break.

without sosa? Sosa's addition to baltimore instantly makes them contenders

without sosa? Sosa's addition to baltimore instantly makes them contendersI'm not sure they will be able to compete with the strikeout totals of Patterson and Burnitz. The Cubs could rack up 300 strikeouts from those two guys alone. Patterson and Burnitz combined for 292 strikeouts last season.

without sosa? Sosa's addition to baltimore instantly makes them contendersNah. The "Oreos" don't really have anybody else in the OF that will go much above 100. Besides Burnitz, they've got Patterson who set the pace with 168 whiffs last year. They could easily have 300 with just those two. Hollandsworth managed 26 in only 148 AB. With him playing a full season, a total of 400 K's is not a stretch.
