per ESPNews.

Does this mean the Mets get the ball from the World Series? :redneck

Im glad. That jackass wont come to the Cell anymore. You know how he always feared for his life playing there. What a tool.

Did Goldberg go to Illinois?

He will definitely keep the World Series ball now, being as deserving of it as any other defensive infielder traded for in mid-season then traded away in the off-season. I'm sure he'll wear B for Boston on his HOF plaque. Jackass.

I wonder how much of the trade had to do with this ball incident?

I thought the Metropolitans needed a 1B.. why the hell did they get Doug Menticnmaohfiudashfitch? Didn't he bat .134 last year?

It may have had something to do with it, but neither Mientkiewicz or Millar was willing to be in a platoon situation, so one of them had to go.

So now Mientkiewicz gets to platoon with Piazza. Poetic justice, I guess.

Who did the Blow Sox get in return?

Piazza will be returning behind the dish, from what I've read.

That would be very Met-like.

I've got a baaaaad feeling about the 2005 Mets... :(:

Reportedly the Red Sox are getting Ian Bladergroen. He is a first baseman with great power and average potential. I really like Blade. As a Met fan, I am sad to see him go. Last year he was tearing the cover off the ball in Low Class A. He was hitting over .340 with about 70 RBI's in about 60 games before he hurt his wrist and was out for the remainder of the season.

What gives you that idea? They spend a lot of money so they should win.

Yeah, but it's the wrong kind of money. Like Hangar says, you need to SPEND a lot, but don't go OVERBOARD and spend TOO MUCH! Woops, there go my eyes again...

Doug Mientkiewicz(sp?) was an all star 1b. I think Minaya got a great value for this trade. Even if the guy is an a-hole.

Well now there is no chance that he will give the ball back.

I wonder how much Jerry would charge to get that name on a jersey?

So everybody we got for Nomar is now gone but without them we would not have won it all. Dave Roberts especially with the key steal in the 9th inning of Game 4.

They're all gone, every one of them, the players who became members of the Red Sox at the trading deadline last July 31, the day Boston said goodbye to an icon, Nomar Garciaparra. They did their part to help the Sox win a World Series and moved on.

Aren't the Mets still paying Mo Vaughn $22,500,000 per year to not play?

I think now that Doug should really give the ball back. He is no longer a part of the team and he didn't deserve it when he was on the team either. The team won the world series not just Doug so the ball should be displayed not kept by one person.

Nope. His contract ran out. And it was only $17,000,000.

I approve. Mankayvitch gives the Miracles their best infield D since the record-setting '99 team that featured our very own Robin Ventura.

That 99 Mets infield D was so good they got on the cover of SI. How many MLB D-units can claim that?
