Now that the team is pretty much set, what is the Sox opening day lineup?

One Dog? When did Lance Johnson rejoin the team and when did he move to 2b?

p.s. I wouldn't be surprised if Uribe and ARow are switched.

I would like to see Willie or Uribe perform well enough to hit in the two hole and ARow move to 3rd so there's good speed at the top. I think Ozzie would like to do something like that too. The 2003 Marlins had Pierre, Castillo, and IRod at the top with power guys like Lowell, Cabrera, Lee and Conine after that.

I could easily see the lineup looking like this...

Podsednik CF
Uribe SS
Rowand LF
Konerko 1B
Dye RF
Everett DH
Crede 3B
AJ C
Harris 2B

With Thomas...

Podsednik CF
Rowand LF
Thomas DH
Konerko 1B
Dye RF
AJ C
Uribe SS
Crede 3B
Harris 2B

I dont see Guillen lining 2 Potential left handed bats up next to each other

Willie needs to earn that title now... I was being generous by giving it to him. I was going to say "One Dog Two" as in II, but I didn't know if people would catch it.

Didn't Ozzie tip his hand a little bit at Soxfest (wasn't there but read it on the Cubune)? I think this was what he alluded to:

w/o Frank
1 Podsednik
2 Uribe
3 Dye
4 Konerko
5 Everett
6 Rowand
7 Pierzynski
8 Crede
9 Harris

Might be wrong, but I think he hinted at putting Uribe in the 2 spot. I'd prefer Rowand, but this is always subject to change as the season goes along....

Flip-flop Uribe and Rowand and you've got it nailed.

I don't think so. nc was right about Ozzie saying Saturday at the Q&A that Uribe will be #2.

Here was the story in the Tribune, which referenced a possible Opening Day lineup- it's about halfway down.

Dye
Thomas
Konerko
Rowand
Uribe
Pierzynski
Crede
Harris
I would love to see Frank back in the three hole if, and it's a big if, he is healthy.
With Frank in the line up, this is what I thought a couple of weeks ago. With Ozzie indicating that, as of now, he sees Uribe as his two, flip Uribe and Dye.

I would flip flop Rowand and Uribe as well. Then the lineup would be the way I would have it. You have righty-lefty from Konerko down through Harris. Uribe is a free swinger and Roward works the count better than anyone on the team outside of Frank. But I think Ozzie sees Uribe as more of a top-of-the-order guy. He's wrong, but he's got the job.

Really? Uribe has 32 BB's in 507 AB's while Rowand has 30 BB's in 487 AB's. Meaning, based on the stats from last year, they both walk about 6% of the time. I can't think of another way to prove who works the count better, but looks to me that they are pretty even.

BTW...it doesn't matter to me who is where.

Ah...excellent. Well, that's pretty on target with my walks/at bat comparison (showing that they are pretty equal).

So I guess we can throw the "Rowand works the count better" theory out the window.

why in the world do people continue to see Frank Thomas as a #3 hitter? even when he was healthy he belonged at cleanup, Mags deserved to bat 3rd for the last two years. Even Dye would be better batting 3rd.

My thoughts exactly. The #2 hitter is an important slot for a contact hitter and someone who can have patience and bat control at the plate. Rowand is perfect for this. Hell, Pierzynski might be a nice #2 hitter too. Uribe belongs in the 7 hole.

Like you said, though, it's Ozzie's job.

I don't have the stats in front of me, but I'm curious how they compare in strikeouts. The #2 hitter needs to make contact most importantly. Doesn't Uribe strikeout more than Rowand?

Juan had 5 more k's but a few more at bats. I think the biggest reason Ozzie wants Juan in the 2 hole is he's a much better bunter then aaron, that's just me speculating though.
