I came THIS close, | |, to ordering the Ozzie Plan until I found out Ozzie wants to charge me $221 for parking, ALTHOUGH I WON'T NEED IT!! Personally, I like Ozzie, but if I didn't, I'd have a proper response for that kind of crap.

I was online waiting for tickets right at 10 and at 10:02 the best available for a pair were upper deck behind home plate 20 rows up. I checked single tickets for best available and it was a ticket in the right field corner 22 rows up. I kept checking until I got something down the third base line. I'm in 537 row 20 . I was really disappointed that I wasn't able to get something in the lower bowl. In past years though, I've sat on the first base side on opening day and froze my butt off. So I guess at least I'll be in the sun this year. Anyways hopefully people who were freezing in line at the park fared better than I did. I know I would've really been pist if I waited for 2 hours in the frigid cold only to end up with upper deck tix. P.S. A side note Kenny Williams is supposed to be on the score with Rick Telander at 4pm.

It's an option for those of us who can't take public transportation ot the game. I like that the option is there because now I won't have to wait in line to park in the cash lots...I'll just drive by with my pass. :D:

"Please refrain from the temptation of jumping onto the batter's eye. I have personally informed all White Sox security to take extreme measures to assure everyone's safety. This includes clubbing, stabbing, shooting, and whatever else we have to do to make you animals behave. I will not be embrassed anymore this year. If you get caught doing anything illegal or unusual, you will be banned from the South Side! Not just U.S. Cellular, but the entire community! If you live there, you will be forced to move. That being said, let's tear the roof off the place in 2005!!".

There was about 100 people or so. I was 12th person to the ticket booth. We were all waiting in the tunnel by te visitors clubhouse. While Cooper doesn't know how things eventually will play out, he has been formulating a plan for the rotation. Either left-hander Mark Buehrle (16-10, 3.89 ERA in 2004) or Garcia (13-11, 3.81), a right-hander, will take the mound against Cleveland at U.S. Cellular Field on Opening Day (April 4).

"We're looking at matchups, career matchups, schedules, possible off days ... obviously, it will be one of those two," Cooper said. Considering Garcia dominated the Indians in 2004 (1-0, 1.93 ERA in 14 innings) and is 4-3 with a 3.20 ERA against them for his career, it's likely he'll get the Opening Day nod. Buehrle was 1-2 with a 4.37 ERA against the Tribe in '04, and is 5-7 against Cleveland lifetime with a 4.77 ERA.

That would be a really silly reason to choose Garcia over Buehrle for opening day - mainly because whoever pitches opening day will miss the second Indians series, while whoever pitches the second game will pitch against the Indians the very next week.

No offense to you, this is directed towards Cooper, but that's just dumb. I mean don't get me wrong I would love to see the Sox win on Opening Day, but the fact remains whether Buehrle pitches on Monday or Wednesday (no game on Tuesday) he'll still be pitching against the same team. Looking at matchups from day one is just dumb. He should just come out and say that Garcia is the ace and not Buehrle.

Well, even in bad years, the opening day crowd is pretty good. This year, with it being the actual opening day (in other words, no chance for the Sox to blow some games early and already annoy the fanbase), I think it'll probably sell out.

Park should be PACKED. Near sell out if not the real deal in my mind. If you go to whitesox.com and look up 2 tickets for opening day, you may get lucky and find some lower deck. If you search for 3 or more, you're sitting up top.

I think they may be lining up the pitching staff for that series, as well. Whoever pitches the second game at home doesn't pitch in Minnesota that weekend. They also have two games with the Twins at home on the 18-19.

Wear cargo pants or hoodie and put the AM player in either the cargo pant or the pockets on your hoodie. Face antenna to good direction. Then run the cord to the headphones up through your hoodie or long sleeved shirt, then place the earphone on the cuff of your shirt, in the palm of your hand, then rest your head on the palm of your hand with the headphone right next to your ear.

Works like a charm for me. Just don't turn the volume up too loud!

I guess I'm just assuming that now that we have 5 actual starters, we won't be skipping the 5th starter as much this year. I mean, there are benefits to skipping, but there's also the possible harm of overworking our pitchers early, so I dunno what they will decide.

Also, how much is it?Oh Man! If the Extra Innings package in the States is the same as the Canadian package (via Rogers Cable up here in the great white north), then I'd highly recommend it. I think all but 3 Sox games were broadcast all season, plus you get most of the games for every other team (for anyone with 2nd or 3rd favourite teams they'd like to follow). Anyway, do some research into daily broadcast schedules before taking the plunge to make sure you get what you want. The only drawback is this: you don't always get the network feed that you want, meaning sometimes you'll have to watch the home feed from the opposing team. If anything it will hammer home the fact that Hawk Harrelson is awesome compared to most other commentators currently out there. Overall: Two thumbs up. Definitely worth it. It will make you a social pariah and you'll never leave the house, but hey, isn't that what White Sox baseball is all about?!

I personally think the ticket prices are too high for a ballclub that keeps finishing 2nd. Yeah, I know you need to raise them, but it sure costs a lot to go to a ballgame these days.

You do NOT get every game with the MLB Extra Innings package - on the commercials/advertisements, they say they show up to 70 (I think) games per week. By my count, last year they showed 115 Sox games. This doesn't sound like much, but most of the remaining games were shown on national networks - 29 on WGN, 5 on ESPN/ESPN2, and 4 on FOX. I subscribed to the package last year (I lived in Oregon, just a BIT out of the Chicago area), and I still got to see 153 games. I believe the list price of the package is $169 for the whole season, but I signed up early last year and got it for $149 - DEFINITELY WORTH IT!!!

One disclaimer though is that you might not care for it as much if you're a big Hawk and DJ fan - about half the time, you get the Sox announcers. The other half of the time, you get the opponent's guys. It is nice to see what the other half thinks of our guys from time to time, though.

yeah pretty much what BabyFisk said...

think last year it was $129 for the early bird price

once the Saturday FOX broadcasts start in June you don't get any games on the package until 7PM (that's Eastern time) as FOX has exclusive rights to the day games.

I also noticed sometimes when the game was on WCIU it wouldn't be on the package... but not ALL games are on there but almost all of them honestly...

the out of town/ other teams feed thing is hit & miss...
might be Hawk, might not be...
for instance if it's vs. Texas that Josh Lewen (sp?) is incredibly annoying... watch him during pre-game... I swear he's an alien bobblehead with this goofy grin & keeps bobbling & grinning & bobbling & looking at the color guy & errr I'm getting off-topic here... but I did learn to appreciate the home-feed/telecasts.

ditto on 2 thumbs up

Looking at matchups from day one is just dumb. He should just come out and say that Garcia is the ace and not Buehrle.Didn't Garcia have a great record last year when he pitched in day games? I may be mistaken, but thought that was right. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Sorry for a downbeat post, but I always went to openers however the crowd at the '74 opener (pretty sure that was the year) had me so disgusted, I said I'll never go to another opening day. And I haven't.
Just for the record, that game was marred by lots of drunkeness, streakers and fights, plus the Sox got beat, but that's beside the point. That was an ugly day!

While of course that's your right, I am wondering if you are cutting off your nose to spite your face on this one? Fights and Drunkenness are a good reason to not go to half price nights now - but to skip opening day? OD draws a much better crowd now. just my 2 cents...

You're absolutely right.
I don't go to half price nights either, for the very same reason. Well, I would if it was an important really meaningful game. I just simply don't like to be around a bunch of drunken idiots. I deal with them at work, although that's kinda fun because I often assist in their getting arrested, and I don't want to deal with them at Sox games. That's just the way I feel. Opening Day draws too many people who only go to Opening Day. They wanna be a part of it, I guess. I don't.

LOL...yeah I know.

I wouldn't go to OD if I wasn't getting the 13 game package. But there aren't a lot of good April games otherwise - and it's a good excuse to leave the office early and tailgate. But I'm with you. There are a lot of crowdhoppers who show up just to be there.

I do think moving 1/2 price Tuesdays to the UD only will help a bit. They can double the security in the UD and isolate the fights to that area. Sitting in the lowers should be fairly safe once again.

I tend to go to The Chicago White Sox opening day here in Chicago becasuse it's an event unto itself. Not only is it an event unto itself, but it's also "supposedly" somewhat about the Sox too. Hey!! Now that's a special bonus!

We should just take it for what it is with a big smile just knowing that there's plenty of baseball to follow. A big party with the Sox as an excuse ain't a bad idea.

That's VERY close to the field. Row CC is after row BB and before row 1. 111 is 2 sections for the end in RF. In those sections, there are rows close to the field than row 1...the lettered rows.

I sat in Row CC down there last year for the makeup game vs the Phillies on the Monday afternoon. There were only about 5-7K fans in attendance that day...but we got treated to Borchard's mamouth shot onto the concourse in RF.

I'd almost rather be that far down the line, and in one of the first few rows then in some of the "better" seats 25 rows back and between home and the bases. It's just a different perspective on the game.

Either way - for OD, those will be great seats. You should enjoy them.

Putting together my nine-game season plan right now. The earliest game I will attend could be the Thursday, April 7th game against the Tribe, so at least I will make it to the "opening series" for the second straight year (witnessed the 11-10 extra inning win over KC, which was the day after opening day). I would like to catch the April 19th (Tuesday) game against the Twins as well.

Depending on what my good friend wants to do, we'll either get lower reserved outfield seats, or upper box - not sure yet. Seems like there's a real good buzz for the White Sox this year - hope we can keep it alive throughout the upcoming season.

Looks like it is getting closer to a sellout. Right now, the best 4 that Ticketmaster has is 506 (Last section in RF), Row 8 and the best pair is also in that same section/row. Now we know they are holding more back for 9/13/27/81 game packages, and those will eventually go on sale. But it's a good sign that so many seats are sold. Same is true for lots of the other key (premium priced) games.
