View Full Version : I can't tell if this is hilarious or sad

Some Marlins fans are trying to contact Carlos Delgado (and his wife) and try to sway him to sign with Florida. The thread goes on and on and I can't decide if this is hilarious or just sad. The Marlins board is plastered with teal, so maybe the whole thing is meant to be sarcastic. Anyway, enjoy:

A Thought on the Delgado Situation, Perhaps this would help our chances? (http://www.marlinbaseball.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=36760&st=0)

After reading this, I've gained a new appreciation for the intelligence and self-respect of Sox fans compared to others.

Here is the draft of their letter...

Mr. Carlos Delgado,

With the Florida Marlins Baseball Club having offered you a contract, we the fans felt it necessary and appropriate to share with you our excitement about you potentially becoming the left-handed power hitter we so desperately need, and you coming to play baseball in South Florida! We feel confident saying that you are the missing piece for bringing South Florida its third World Series title in the last nine years! The Hispanic community would embrace you and provide enthusiastic support as they have other baseball players like Ivan ‘Pudge’ Rodriguez, Alex Fernandez, Miguel Cabrera, and Mike Lowell. South Florida, you will find, is a cosmopolitan, scenic, beautiful, and pleasant place in which to live and work. We hope you are as excited to join our community and play for a contending team as we are enthusiastic to have you join our favorite baseball team! We look forward to seeing you in black and teal on opening day, and the World Series in October!

Respectfully Signed,

The Fans of The Florida Marlins Baseball Club:?:

Their effort will be all for not. Delgado is likely to join the Mets now that they have Beltran.

Here's about the only letter that could have any real effect:

Dear [TEAM OWNER],

Please offer Player X more money than [OTHER TEAM].

Thank you,

Fans

I've sent about 50 of that letter to Jerry over the past 4 years and yet our big FA this year is named Jermaine.

I think that gives Sox fans too much credit; visiting the Roadhouse lately has really made me appreciate how this board is run compared to these other ones where the idiots run wild. On the whole, though, I would agree that I've had 200% more intelligent conversations about baseball in general with Sox fans than any others.

Okay here's the plan. One of you down south do this.

Get two big poster boards. Write down on each side "Come to the Marlins Delgado!!!", in big black letters. Attatched the posters to your body. Go to the turnpike, get out of your car and stand in the middle of the lanes. Perhaps being a friend so you can block both lanes.

You'll get on the news and get the word out and may even get national attention. http://www.marlinbaseball.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/plain.gif

:roflmao: :rolling: :rolling: :rolling:

I hope he's joking but something tells me he's dead serious.

what is this Roadhouse.........Is it another Sox board....I have heard it spoke of many times and I was just curious.

I know WSI had a roadhouse forum back in the day.

The Roadhouse still exists at WSI. It's where trolls go to die.

Lay off the Marlins fans. They're a new team with two world series wins in the past decade. They haven't learned bitterness yet.

I know we had a few idiots come here after the Koch trade, but by and large they don't represent the Marlins fans that I have met.

 nice. One of my all-time favorite movies.

My favorite lines (it goes something like this):

"Now what do you need all that beer for?"

"Because he's thirsty Dummy!"

classic

Wow ..........I never really noticed the Roadhouse was still around...did it disappear for a while or something.

Wow I can't believe that its even bad to "post" their. Seems kind of harsh. I understand starting a thread that gets moved there, but to just respond to some bull**** thread seems harmless to me.
