Toronto signed Scott S. for their bullpen at a price tag of 2.5 million this year and 2.75 million next year. These moves makes Kenny Williams look better and better this year. Pitching has been ridiculously overpriced in this market, but K.W. did not overpay and was able to fill the glaring pitching staff holes while saving enough loot to pick up needed position players as well.

Wow. I was half-expecting it to be those crazy Mets. Toronto's bullpen was absolutely brutal last year, so they need all the help they can get.

Yeah...he'll take his baseball and go to another team if he doesn't start

Schoeneweis, 31, was 6-9 (5.59) with the White Sox and will be used as a left-handed relief specialist by the Blue Jays.

How in the world did he pull over $5MM for 2 years? boggles my mind...

He can be an effective long reliever, but I think you can find better out there for what they paid him. Schoeneweis got away with something there...

Borass looks a lot like George W. Bush.

The Blue Jays must have have come across one of the hard to find money growing trees... on second thought, so did the Mets.

That said, even though I'm an avowed stathead, I can't imagine what J.P. is thinking here. The Koch signing...OK. I can see that for the price. But this is a ton of $$ for a guy who is a bad starter and merely an adequate reliever.

Granted, he is sorely hampered by a lack of $$$ to play with, but he hasn't done very well with the pittance he's been given anyway. He's taken a lot of lumps for the Delgado departure too.

Blasphemy! J.P. is a protege of the great Billy Beane! How dare you make a comment like that about some who learned under Billy?!? The FOBB will be looking for you...

wow... talk about a bad signing... firstly i wouldnt want shoney for any more than a year, to see how he pitches and check out his attitude, let alone that amount of money for a lefty long reliever, not even a solid setup guy...

what did we get el duque for? yes deals like this make KW look pretty good.

But Scott says he's a starter...
If nobody is gonna pay you to be a starter, then you're not a starter.
On the flipside, if the only paycheck you'll get is to be a reliever, then you're a reliever.

it hurts to think of all those blue jays fans (wherever they are, certainly not at the games) and how many gut wrenching dissapointments that they will have to suffer through by years end, especially if they use schoney as a starter

anybody else reading my mind, jon rauch....
