I found this article from Jayson Stark on ESPN.com. It is great that somone at that network finally came down from their Yankee/Red Sox/Cubs high and looked at things rationally.

I just remember everyone shaking with fear after the Yankees got A-Rod last year. I admit, it made me sick to my stomach, but I said all along the Yankees wouldn't win the series in 2004. They didn't. I don't know who it will be in '05, but I would be large sums of money that champs this year will not reside in New York.

Among the reasons he mentions - old age, the unknown of Pavano and Wright, and other glaring weaknesses.

"Yeah, we know what usually happens: The Yankees go out in June and trade for Jason Schmidt (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=5340), Barry Zito (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=6394), Ben Sheets (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=6618), Juan Pierre (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=6550) and Paul Konerko (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=5908)."
