In fact, Williams denied a report that the White Sox had offered a contract to their former foe from Minnesota.

"That is false. We never made him an offer," said Williams of the pursuit of Pierzynski. "We were doing some background work, some research on him, and determined he was not a fit with the White Sox."

Pierzynski, who turns 28 on Dec. 30, is a career .294 hitter with 151 RBIs combined in the last two years. His personality, though, was not believed to be a good mix for this White Sox team, which is trying to develop as one cohesive unit.

We aren't getting a C. We aren't getting a 2B. We aren't getting a 3B. So can everyone just let it go?

The only think we may get is a starter. That's it.

i agree that we arent getting a C or 3b, but I have to believe that KW will sign a 2b/SS guy. They still need a backup/utility man regardless if you trust willie or not.

Right on!

Davis was going to be our starter all along. When we got him KW said he was someone that they had their eye on for awhile, and had even tried to get him when he was with San Diego. He has the classic feel of a KW diamond in the rough. A one time hot prospect or promising player that some team had given up on, who ends up as a throw in or after thought. For examples, see Paul Konerko, Esteban Loiza, Juan Uribe, and Schoney.

I think it is worth seeing what Davis can do for a full season as the starter. That being said, I predict he is going to put together a Ron Karkovice type year, ugly numbers for anyone but a solidly defensive catcher.

Hmmm, the latest ESPN 1000 Scoreboard Update at 4:00 P.M. said that the White Sox are still interested in Pierzynski even after signing Ben Davis and that KW was talking to Pierzynski's agent. :?:

How so? I like Burke, but he is a 30 something year old journeyman catcher. Good for a backup, bad idea as a starter. Seriously, can you name one position player in baseball that became a starter after being a minor leaguer until their 30s?

Well, staying away from A.J. because of lingering doubts about his personality is probably a good move. My guess is that KW spoke with a few of the guys on the team and was told, as he so often is on this board, "Don't do it Kenny!"

Jamie Burke: ML debut at age 29
Damian Miller: ML debut at age 27

Unless you think those two extra years are somehow magical....

NOT A RUMOR.

But the Dodgers did not offer Alex Cora arbitration, because it would probably, "double his $1.3 million dollar salary."

http://www.latimes.com/sports/printedition/la-sp-newdodgers21dec21,1,2778137.story?coll=la-headlines-pe-sports

His brother is Joey Cora, and he might be the 2B that we sign.

By the way, not going to start anything, but I hope he is not the guy.

He costs way too much and last year was his best year with 10HR's, 47 RBI's and a .267 AVG.

Anyway, Ben Davis is fine with me.

I for one think it's awesome that A.J. is not coming to the Sox. Not the kind of attitude we need. If Ben Davis can find his stroke again, hopefully he can return to the form he had with the Padres.

Interesting, did anyone hear Bruce Levine on MJH today? He said not only was KW afraid about the clubhouse problems, but 'there was a fear of methods in which he got stronger' and he couldn't throw anyone out at the plate. I'm happy we're not going after him, and I was against when I only knew about him being a jerkoff

I don't think he weighed 245 pounds when he was with the Twinkies. :o:
