According to this article (http://anaheim.angels.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/ana/news/ana_news.jsp?ymd=20041215&content_id=922928&vkey=news_ana&fext=.jsp), Clement is expected to make his decision tomorrow (Friday, December 17)...
Axelrod confirmed that Clement is still being pursued by the Los Angeles Dodgers, whom Clement also met with Wednesday, along with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians and Toronto Blue Jays. Axelrod said Clement would make his decision Thursday or Friday.Where will Matt Clement wind up?

I don't know why, but I've just got that feeling that we're going to surprise everyone and nag him. I really feel he still wants to live in Chicago and what's a better place to play than on the South Side.

I honestly think the White Sox have the best situation for him if indeed the reports of 3 yrs 30 million is true. I am skeptical though, so we will see tomorrow.

Something tells me that the Angels will end up with him

For some reason I think he's going to come here. I think he will want to show the Cubs that he can be a 15+ game winner and what better way to do that than with the Sox.

I'd love to have him on the Sox, but I've watched too many times while the Sox made someone their "Top priority" and then offered him a completely lame contract, telling the media that they "tried". Heck, why do you think they came up with the whole X and Y system anyhow? Matt Clement is the best possible option out there for the Sox as a free agent. In other words, he won't be pitching in the Cell come April.

Gosh do I wish I could use teal on that...

Here is how the 3 year offer to Clement will probably look:

$650,000 Year 1
$1.8 million Year 2
$28.5 million Year 3 :D:

I voted red sox because they are offering the most money. I am not sure what the White Sox offered Clement.

From urbandictionary.com

. Beard

Any opposite sex escort taken to an event in an effort to give a homosexaul person the apperance of being out on a date with a person of the opposite sex.

*Disclaimer: I'm just making a loke and not claiming in any way that Matt Clement is a homosexual...not that there would be anything wrong with that.

Barry Axelrod was just on Comcast. He said that Matt is discussing the decision with family and friends. Axelrod feels Clement is going about this decision in a very smart way. He's talked to some current and former pitchers. Axelrod expects a decision within a day or so. He said it could come within hours. The anticipation builds...

Does the first part mean teamates or just pitchers of the game in general???

Not that it's ground breaking, I was just curious...

I don't want Clement too badly, but I'm going to be disappointed if the Sox don't get him...I think if he wants to pitch for us that is great, I just don't know if he can be as good as he was last year.

12-17-2004, 12:20 AM
he wasn't THAT good last year. he has nasty stuff but i would rather have milton @3 and 24 than clement @3 and 28 or 30.

I think Kerry Wood and Rick Sutcliffe were mentioned as pitchers that Clement spoke with.Seriously? That sucks - 2 guys who are almost guaranteed to talk down the Sox. Hopefully they at least talked up the value of staying in the city from a family perspective.

Red Sox | Clement Decision Expected Friday - from www.KFFL.com (http://www.kffl.com/)
Fri, 17 Dec 2004 01:18:45 -0800

According to The Boston Herald's Jeff Horrigan, free-agent SP Matt Clement is expected to inform the Boston Red Sox -- or whichever team he is interested in signing with -- whether he will accept their contract offer. Clement was offered a deal by the Red Sox in the $24 million to $25 million range for three years......

That's like saying, "I think I'm gonna eat a burger when I get there...Or whatever I feel like eating."The spin is probably the Herald's and not Clement's. Axelrod wouldn't be that careless.

Anyone know when a decision is supposed to be made? It'd be a heck of a signing if we can get him.
