The MLB.COM article doesn't really tell the story. McLane is an asswipe. Hunsicker was very tired of him. So he packed his bags and left. That's the real story.

If this is the Knight Ridder story someone showed me a couple of days ago, it went out around the country misspelling the name of the second baseman who played on the infield with Looie Aparicio and Bill Melton. The writer wrote "Bobby Knopp," but I assume he meant "Bobby Knoop." As if it's only the White Sox and no one pays attention to how the players spell their names. By now it's probably been corrected on the Tribune site.
