MJH talking about it now. Seems like something might be close for Hairston Jr and Julio.

Oops, now 3 threads of the same thing.

Per MJH, Scam-Me* to the O's for Jorge Julio and Jerry Hairston...

Discuss.

According to MJ&H, a deal is the works. Sosa for Hairston, jr and Jorge Julio.

My only response is, why wouldn't anyone want him? Sounds like the Cubs are lucking out, again.

I agree and I would love to see the flubs stuck with him and his contract next year. I sure hope this doesn't go through.

IIRC, the rumor included Kyle "redneck" Farnsworthy going to the O's as well.

The only way this makes any sense is if the Cubs pay a SIGNIFICANT portion of that salary, otherwise, why would a free-spender like Angelos, dying to make a big splash with the Nats coming into the region, not take the same $17mil and go get the better/more marketable Beltran?

Only if doing this gets him Sosa+JD Drew. So the question then becomes do the Tribsters OK paying 8-10mil on Sosa AND a Beltran 15-18mil?

Hopefully not, but the prospect is scary.

My favorite comment:

"Sosa. Belle. Sosa. Belle. ...so true"

From the O's board about So-so:

steve stone on sammy sosa's problems in chicago, from espn outside the lines:

"If you create a Frankenstein, you can't be too surprised if he eats the village."

I had no idea Stone said that. Too funny. :D:

They had George Offman on the Score last night around 8:30 and he said to make the money work he thinks it would be Hairiston, Julio, and Ponson.

Just more evidence that Ofman has no business in the Sports industry. The O's aren't giving up their pitching.

Yeah, Hairiston/Julio straight up for Sammy isn't exactly a good trade for the Cubs. But they aren't really doing this for the players they will get in return. They are doing this for Carlos Beltran.

As much as I would love for So-So to remain with the Flubs, if he leaves, I would love for it to be to an AL team so that there will be one less team for me to worry about playing.

I only wish the Twins would get him. Imagine that clubhouse by, oh say, late April.........

I can't picture him in another uniform. He looks so dumb in the red and blue. Fits him perfectly.

:barney&sham

Sosa - "Your head is bigger than mine..did you take the juice, too?"
Barney - "And I thought I was annoying...yeesh."

Great place for him, the farther the better. Too bad they don't have a team in Alaska.

"the cubs seem so desparate to get rid of him" I know, and that's what scares me.
