Odalis Perez would be good, but I think Clement would be great.

I'd prefer Clement. Then when his arm blows out we'll spend hours rehashing Kenny's reckless... never mind...

Id go with clement, but he is an ex-cub and kind of a head case. But they will go with perez or someone even cheaper

And with a probable $11 million to work with, why does this preclude the White Sox? Someone ahs already posted the reports that the White Sox have entered the mix of teams interested in Clement. If we sign Perez we should have money left over which we should use to sign a catcher, although I'm not sure what catchers are out there right now.

Clement does not deserve 9 million per, and it's stupid to get into a bidding war with the Red Sox and Angels (gee I wonder why. )

Odalis will be cheaper, and he will be the better option for the Sox.

**** these ex-cub pitchers.

We could always do the Hudson/PK trade and sign him to a long term deal with the money we saved.

Yes I know it's a pipedream....

I just hope we get SOMEONE. Perez, Hudson, Johnson, just get us a real starter, KW. Spend the money.

On another note, us U of I guys need to get together this week to drown our sorrows. I am free on wed night. What about you guys?

Fly Ball pitcher at USCF? Shoot me now. Hudson makes a TON more sense to me. Another trade sounds better at this point than the available starters on the market.

Where is the choice: NO, Perez is not a good fit for the Sox???

I'd prefer Clement to Perez, but if the bidding for Clement goes through the roof, I'd be satisfied with Perez plus any one of Placido Palanco (best case), Miguel Cairo or Mike Matheny.

Matheny was signed to a 3 year deal by the Giants today.

Oh. Well. Nevermind. Any other starting-caliber catchers out there? Somebody? Anybody?

When clement was on the cubs, alot of sox fans always said his pitching style would lead to arm troubles. are these concerns gone now that he is not a cub (hatred of cubs), or am i thinking of another player?

Why does Perez get such a bad fly ball/ home run rep? He's made out to be not much better than Milton in that regard.

This completely changes my stance on him. For $6mil per, I'd love to ahve this guy.

Wow. I just checked some stats. Perez on the road the past few years: 320.2IP / 1.20 WHIP / 4.09ERA. Add to that a very good GB/FB ratio (last 3 years: 1.70.

This guy is a good fit for the cell. And he's cheaper than Clement, although less flashy. I haven't watched him pitch, but if his arm motion make shim seem safer than Clement from an injury perspective, that might be awesome.

3/$21 for perez, then you might still have 1-2mil to go get some infield depth.

Is trading for Hudson even an option now? We just traded CLee and I thought he would be the one to go if we made any sort of trade for Hudson. If Konerko would be involved our offense would be horrendous.

Not only should the Sox sign Perez, they should do it tonight and start the bidding at $7M/3yrs (by this I meant 21M OVER 3 yrs.).

Yeah, I know, that's probably overpaying. I don't care. Our lineup looks good, our bench looks good, our bullpen looks good, our rotation just needs one more guy.

There are two pitchers left who can pass as a #3 or better. One's in the Red Sox' sights. Screw him, he's an ex-cub anyway. Get Perez. Now. Right bleeping now. Fly under the radar like you said you would. FLY DAMN YOU, FLY!

The highest offer I've heard for Odalis is 3 years 21 million, so we better have already offered more than that. Odalis was my no. 1 choice before this offseason for someone we should sign.
