My *hunch* is that because the Red Sox signed a deal with a rival hospital to be the *OFFICIAL* hospital of the Red Sox, Dr Morgan got the boot

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The Boston Red Sox are replacing team physician Bill Morgan, who helped stitch together a World Series title by suturing Curt Schilling's ankle and allowing him to stay in the postseason rotation.

Reports indicate the Red Sox were unhappy that he publicly noted that the ankle wouldn't be able to take a third such procedure and pitching performance right after he won the WS game, as the series was not over at that point, and the info was arguably valuable to the opposition. Take it for what's its worth.
