Mark Feinsand, of MLB.com, reports New York Yankees SP Javier Vazquez and general manager Brian Cashman both believe that Vazquez's second-half struggles in 2004 were the result of mechanical problems. They also believe that Vazquez can easily fix them during Spring Training. "I know that I'm a much better pitcher than that, and I still have the confidence in myself," said Vazquez. It sounds to me like Cashman is just trying to increase Vazquez' trade value.
