WHAT??? Screwed at closer??? The Cubs??? Don't they still have LaToya AND Joe Blow?? IMO, they have a closer controversy in which they can't go wrong either way!

This is awesome. One more closer that the Cubs wanted is off the market. Typical Brewers, finally getting someone good and trading him.

Yes, Smoltz will now start and receive a $100,000 bonus for every start he makes. If he makes 30-33 starts, that's an extra $3,000,000-$3,300,000. Smoltz already makes $11.7 a season, so if he makes those starts, he can earn upto $15 mill in 2005.

The brewers made out awesome in this deal. Capellan is going to be an absolute stud. If I were the braves I wouldn't have made that trade, however Schuerholtz rarely makes bad moves so we'll just have to see how this one works out.

Ditto. An organization that gave Royce Clayton a chance and broke the bank for Damian Miller finally does something right. This is worse than the Mets giving up Kazmir for Zambrano. Kolb has average major league stuff. This is like going out and getting a Matt Karchner. But as you said, Schuerholtz is smart, so maybe he knows something about Capellan that I do not.
