There's been all this talk of a trade that somehow involves the Sox giving up both Konerko and Garland for Vazquez. Doesn't matter if it's a two or 3 team trade.

The question is simple:

Would you trade PK and Garland for Vazquez and some cash?

My answer is a resounding 'NO!!!' The Sox still need a fifth starter and are losing a bat too. It doesn't fix any holes.

Depends. If you get cash back in the deal, enough to go get another solid SP, then I'd do it.

Only if the Yankees gave us AT LEAST $15mil

Depends on the cash involved, but I probably wouldn't. Lee, Garland, and prospect (Honel?) for Hudson I'd do in a hurry.

As stated, it totally depends on the cash involved. If this allows the Sox to sign another talented player, of course you pull the trigger.

Without a doubt I'd do that trade. Vazquez has been an ace for most of his career but then had one bad half of a season in New York. It's amazing how that one bad half is giving everyone amnesia about how great he was prior to it.

Not unless the cash is 50-75% of Vasquez's salary. There has to be something else brewing for this to be real.

One or the other. But no way both.

No, but I'd do Konerko & a second-tier prospect for Vazquez & cash.

If this is part of a scheme that gets us the best starting rotation in the American League:

Buehrle
Garcia
Contreras
Vazquez
Mulder

Then pull the trigger.

Pitching wins championships not softball teams!

All reports are that the Yanks are going to be adding as much as $10M to the deal. With that and the additional $5M that they've said they'd be willing to spend, they could sign another FA pitcher. But on balance, I'd rather do PK for Vazquez straight up and let them keep the money.
