Starting pitcher. It might not happen this weekend, but it will happen.

I second that. I don't believe that KW wants to start the season with Grilli as the 5th starter.

2. I'm sure it will happen...in July. Then we will have to give up more prospects for average players that we could have equaled during free agency.

I am not against trading. It just seems over the past 2 years the areas the Sox addressed at the trade deadline were holes that were present at the start of the season. If there was not a desire to save a half year of salary we could get players to fill a need without giving up prospects.

No, The Dbacks are being hardasses when it comes to trading Randy Johnson. They're getting 2 players for 2/3 of the price of one. I honestly don't see the Javy deal going through, even though I wish it would.

Who cares history shows the Sox will over pay and trade 3 to 4 players to get 1 and get screwed in the deal.

He may get the SP we need, but will KW trade Garland to do it even though that would again have a hole in the 5th starter spot?

No, KW will not make this mistake. Garland will not be involved in a deal for another pitcher unless it means that the deal somehow frees up a significant amount of money to sign yet another starting pitcher. To me, this seems highly unlikely. Given our 5th starter situation last year, I would venture to guess that KW sees our current 4 starters as about as close as players come to untouchables. On the other hand, that makes Paulie and Lee more viable trade options, especially Paulie because he commands an 8 million dollar salary next year. I don't want anyone jumping down my throat about this though. I love Konerko(he's my favorite current White Sox player according to my profile) but we can't go into the season with the same 5th starter predicament we had last year.
