The signings of Hermanson and Dye puts the projected salary at about $70M, depending on arbitration outcomes.

Since we're basically at $70M, does this mean we're done??

I am going to say were not done, but nearly. KW will let the payroll go to about 73-74 ish perhaps. I can see him doing the following still:

1. Sign Placido Polanco/Miguel Cairo

2. Trade Paulie/CLee for that last SP
After that well prolly be done.

Which like i said is dumb. Vazquez makes like 10 mil and hes no better than an Odalis Perez who could be had for 5 mil. Our payroll situation is looking like thats it in tems of free spending. I mean i jope its not, we stll have a huge hole in our rotation which could de-rail us and our recent signing at any time. All it takes is for Grilli to go 0-5 or have a high ERA and people will be calling for his and KW heads for not signing a real SP. I can see it now. THink about how much better contreras and garland become as 4 and 5 starters if we can get someone else.

Jon Lieber just got $7 million a year. I will bet my left nut that Odalis Perez will get more than a measly $5 million a year.

What does Hermanson's signing put us at right now?

I know the answer to this question.

Whatever it is, the payroll is too low. If X= payroll. Then the Sox payroll should be X+Y where Y is some positive number more then 10 million.

For those against Vasquez:

I don't think Kenny makes the move unless New York pays, at the very least (probably more), the difference in salary.

I think he's definitely better than Odalis Perez. Vazquez pitches in a much tougher league and it was his first year in New York with high expectations. Playing here would be like going back to the Expos.
