Junior Spivey might be a good acquisition for the Sox to investigate. I believe I read that he was non-tendered. He and Willie could possibly make a very solid and inexpensive platoon at second base. Willie puts up good numbers against righties while Spivey hits lefties particularly well. Between 2002 and 2004, Spivey's batting average against lefties was .305 and his .OBP was .413. In 2004, Willie hit for a .279 average against righties, and his .OBP was .366. This platoon could address our concerns about second base while leaving money available to fill other holes. Spivey made about $2.3 million in 2004.

I wouldn't mind that at all. A 1-2yr deal at $2mil per gives you a solid platoon 2B/leadoff for a solid price of $2.5mil.

Unless you mean he wasn't offered arbitration, the tendering deadline for players not yet eligible for arbitration is at a later date.
