Rangers signed catcher Sandy Alomar Jr., who had been with the White Sox, to a one-year deal. The Rangers remain concerned about Gerald Laird's thumb, so they'll probably have him start the year in Triple-A and go with a tandem of Rod Barajas and Alomar. Laird should end up as the team's starter by the end of the season, but Barajas will get the vast majority of the playing time initially.

I agree, I wouldnt have minded having Sandy back in a reserve roll, provided we had a solid major league level catcher. We dont, so the two headed monster will have to do. Sandy is a class act, and he wants to coach when he is done playing. He planned on retiring here, and then becoming one of the coaches, so who knows if he still wants to coach here when he is done.
