$5-6 Million? :o: :?:

The Yanks will still probably try to get him. They are desperate for a left.

"Maybe the White Sox should trade Mark Buehrle to them like I suggested last offseason!"

We should offer him 7 and forget about signing Jaret Wright. Leiter is so solid. He is an "oldy but goody" I would rather see what next years FA crop of pitchers brings and bring in Leiter as a stop gap. The guy is a straight GAMER.

Don't know why KW didn't want to make a move on him.

This is a messed up market for pitching. I would have thought Leiter would have had more value in terms of years and money. Unless I'm mistaken (I don't have Leiter's stats near me) but after the contract Bensen signed, Leiter is a bargain.

I was expecting Leiter to get 3-4 million. Let's just see how the Yankees counter.

CBS Sportsline is reporting that Leiter signed a 1 year deal with the Marlins (http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/story/7977105). No info on the terms of the deal yet...

Yep, Leiter signed with the Marlins for a 1-year deal...

From the article on MLB.com...

Along with signing Leiter, the Marlins also are close to bringing back another former member of their pitching staff.

Reliever Antonio Alfonseca, who pitched for the Braves last season, is close to finalizing a two-year deal.

Alfonseca would compete with Guillermo Mota for the closer position. He also has experience setting up.
Both moves will be solid additions for the Fish IMO, plus they have offered arbitration to Pavano and Valdez.

Leiter wasn't realistically an option for us. If he wasn't pitching for one of the New York teams, he was going home to pitch in Florida.
