the Giants. The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting the Giants have agreed to a 3 year, $21 million deal with Armando Benitez. That's not a bad signing for the Giants. They finally secure the back end of their bullpen for the next few years. With this signing, the closers free agent market is all but gone. Dustin Hermanson is technically a closer now, I guess, but he's not a great option. Matt Mantei is still out there, but still as frail as ever. Robb Nen is out there as well, but who knows how healthy he is. Billy Koch is still available...:o:

That's a ton of money to throw at a guy who is only 1 year removed from that disastrous run with the Mets. The Giants definitely seem to be in a spending mood recently. 3 years $12 million for Vizquel and 3 years $21 million for Benitez. I guess they see that the window to win with Bonds is very small and they need to spend now.
