According to Gammons, Tampa Bay is shopping several good players. Here is what he says.

Tampa Bay is trying to clear salary and shopping SS Julio Lugo (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=6451), 1B-OF Aubrey Huff (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=6545), OF Jose Cruz, Closer Danys Baez (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=6395) and C Toby Hall (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=6599). Lugo is a fine player, but his domestic abuse issue in Houston is scaring off teams, such as Boston. If Tampa truly is shopping these players, I hope Kenny looks into some of them. Aubrey Huff would give the Sox the middle of the order lefty we are lacking. He'll make $4.5 million next year, and $7.5 million the year after. I wouldn't mind seeing KW trade Konerko for pitching, and then trade for Huff. It would only save about $3.5 million instead of $7+ if we just went with Gload, but it might be worth it. Baez would also be a nice addition. He's signed for $3.5 million next year with a $4 million option for 2006.

I don't like Baez, but I've been a Huff fan for a couple of years after seeing his name in a box score thinking that Mike Huff was back in the league.

Aubrey Huff is a great hitter and a left hander. Having him at first not only allows us to trade Konerko, but gives us a more balanced lineup. Kenny should do whatever possible to get it done.

I'd stay away from Baez. The Tribe tried using that guy in every pitching role imaginable (starter, closer, setup, long relief) before they gave up on him. Now the D-Rays are shopping him too. Not a good sign.

At the rate Tampa Bay is going, the PAWTUCKET Red Sox may have a higher payroll next year. That team needs to be put to sleep.

Tampa has proved to be a horrible market for an AL team. It may have had a shot in the NL with so many Pittsburgh, Cinncy and Cubs fans that have relocated to the west coast of Florida. ( plus natural rivals in Miami and Atlanta )

and how much more would Montreal have drawn in the AL East with close rivals Toronto, Boston and the Yankees. ( The Mutts have NO fans upstate in NY iys all the Skunks )

Jose Cruz would be a decent replacement in RF for Maggs. Maybe Carl Crawford is available?

Now that's a guy the sox could use. At least, it's who I'd try for.

I'd rather have Huff at 3b.

I'd rather have Huff at 3b. I agree. The Sox need to find a replacement for Crede, because he clearly doesn't have what it takes to succeed at the Major League level. He doesn't put in extra time in the batting cage, and he apparently has never listened to Greg Walker. I'm in favor of any move that will land Crede on the bench, or on another team's roster. It took me less time to type this post than it takes Crede to get his bat through the strike zone with that looooooonnnggg swing of his.

Crawford is just what the doctor ordered, however he would not be available especially with the injury of their cf.

Some interesting names have popped up this week as players possibly available in recent articles....names like Pierre, V. Wells and Huff. The problem is in each case they are looking for talented cheap players in return, with an emphasis on pitching. We dont match up well, unless KW gets creative with a 3 way. Each would be a blessing for the Sox.

KW will make a splash somewhere, we all know that, he believes the game is won with pitching...we will see. I believe you will see speed in the outfield and it wouldn't suprise me if CLee, PK and Garland were all traded this off season.
