Not sure how much he would cost or how much any of us would want him, but the Astros declined to pick up Jeff Kent's option today.

GIDPPK + GIDPJK.... I hope not.

If we Trade PK maybe, but my lord that would be the slowest team ever. Frank, PK, JK.

I wouldn't try to sign him off the FA market. He cost too much for being a defensive liability. Id be very happy with a speedy, good defense 2b. I think we would be best giving 2B to uribe and signing a guy like a vizquel or renteria for short. That would give us two pretty good grinders in the lineup to place around our rbi guys.

I could live with Todd Walker for cheap.

The option they declined was about $9 million a year... I wouldn't go for him at that price, but if we could sign him for a year at $6 million or less, I would consider it. He was talking retirement earlier this year, if I remember correctly... he will be 37 next season, which is getting up there in this league.

In this instance, I hope JK is a cute internet acronym for just kidding!

Nope. 23 GIDP's each for PK and JEFF KENT. And a whopping 8 3B's by Jeff doesn't make up for that. I'd rather have URibe there as well. Kent has a history of attitude problems, and wasn't enough for the Stros to go over the top, no reason he would do it for us. Just one more big bat that for now we don't need.

I wouldn't mind grabbing Tony Womack. Good fielder. 307 hitter. 349 OBP. 26 steals. Nice option at the leadoff spot.

Losing Magglio AND possibly Konerko, it would be of great benefit to have a power hitter at second base.

This article from ESPN says the Astros want Kent back (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1911488)next season, with a cheaper price tag...

He had a $9m option for 2005, his production hasn't declined significantly so I'd bet he gets the $9m elsewhere, I'd rather it not be with the Sox.

I rather have Womack. I like Kent and think he's still solid, but we already have enough boppers, we need guys with good OBP.
