I have waited all my life for this day and the feeling exceeds everything I dreamt.

About an hour ago hearing something on the radio made me cry
"You are listening to the 50,000 watt home of the WORLD CHAMPION BOSTON RED SOX...."

I know my late father and brother are smiling from above.

I hope you guys will have a day like this soon.

BTW feel free to email Bob Ryan about the last 2 words in his column

What a sweet ride it was. Has any team ever sent its followers on such a manic (sweeping the Angels), depressive (losing those first three to the Yankees), euphoric (each and every one of the last eight games) postseason journey? It's not possible.

So there it is. No more crying, hear? No more whining, hear? No more "Whys?" The Boston Red Sox are champions of the world.

There is only one thing left to say.

"Go Cubbies!"

Bob Ryan is a Globe columnist. His e-mail address is ryan@globe.com. http://cache.boston.com/bonzai-fba/File-Based_Image_Resource/dingbat_story_end_icon.gif

This morning first thing, I heard CNN Headline News anchor Robin Meade (who I think is smokin' hot) say "now it's the Cubbies turn".

I almost threw up my coffee.

Despite the Cubbie babble, I still think she's smokin' hot.

They just announced the plans for the parade on Saturday......this is a 6 state party!!!

http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/playoffs04/newspages/

Mayor Thomas M. Menino announced that the Red Sox Championship parade -- which he calls "a rolling rally" -- will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Boylston and Kilmarnock streets and end on Cambridge Street near City Hall.

He said police will be out in force, and dangerous or destructive behavior will not be tolerated.

City officials said there will be no rally after the parade, citing security concerns. A City Hall rally celebrating the Patriots' Super Bowl victory earlier in the year turned violent, and a fan was killed last week during police efforts to control celebrations after the Red Sox pennant victory.

Club president Larry Lucchino said the parade will give fans the opportunity to salute the players, and the players a chance to salute fans.

"We intend to say 'Thank you' loudly and clearly and passionately to our fans," he said.

For those who cannot attend the parade, he said the Red Sox will conduct a trophy tour and hold rallies in all six New England states in the next few weeks.

Menino expects the parade to be over by 1 or 1:30 p.m. Police will start to close roads along the route gradually early Saturday morning.

Officials have estimated that 5 million Red Sox fans might turn out for such an event. City leaders discussed a long parade route to help spread out crowds and prevent problems.

The parade is likely to be a wet one. The National Weather Service is forecasting a 70 percent chance of rain for Boston on Saturday.

Congrats, Fenway! It is indeed a chilly day in hell. Enjoy it. I'm happy for Foulke and the city of Boston. Hopefully, they didn't burn the place to the ground.

I did fire off an email to the Globe columnist who added his "Go Cubs" at the bottom of his article. I doubt I'll get a response.

I couldn't believe it when I saw it last night. The last grounder to Foulke, I was expecting something bad to happen, but it didn't. Then I blinked and opened my eyes really wide as he oh so carefully underhanded it to first. I'm still convinced it didn't happen.

Go cubbies my d----. 1918 is taken care of...1917 is next. I truly believe we can do it now. This gives hope for everyone.

Congrats, I just hope the same goes for me...and wishing my deceased family can see the White Sox win a world series...SO I CAN RUB IT IN THEIR FACES (lousy cub fans).

BTW, send that boob an email giving him an etiquette and diligent piece of my mind.

Congrats, I am so jealous. I sat there and just smiled when Foulke threw the ball over to first. My wife sat down next to me and said this year it was the year of the red, maybe next year it will be our turn.

It made me think, if it were our Sox winning, I would probably cry like a little baby!

Anyways, Congrats and enjoy the moment.

Fenway,
Live it up man & enjoy it. I can only imagine how nice it must feel. The Bulls 6 Championships was good, the Bears Super Bowl victory in '85 was better, but being a baseball fan first and foremost, the White Sox winning a World Series would just be heaven on Earth. Congrats & enjoy.

Congrats to you & your BoSox, fenway.

Maybe someday our Sox will also spend enough money to win it all. :(:

I did as well. He returned a response quite promptly actually, but simply said, "Stop it. You know the deal." He puts the ass in class

Thank you all for the high fives.

36 hours later I am still numb.....

12 mornings ago I sat numb in a Dunkin Donuts staring at the Sunday papers after the horrific 19-8 game convinced that the olde towne team would never ever beat the Yankees never mind the series.

BTW Neilsen is reporting that FOX25 at 11:30 PM Wednesday had the highest viewer share ever recorded in a Top 10 market.... 88 and a 64.2 rating.

If spending money brings championships then why didn't the Yankees win on thier $182 million payroll?

I thought that everyone knew that by now, RK.

Congrats to fenway and the Red Sox, I too am both envious but sympathetic.

If spending money brings championships then why didn't the Yankees win on thier $182 million payroll?Because the Red Sox spent $131 million in a much smarter way than the Yankees spent their $182 million. Looking at these numbers, one thing is clear... the Devil Rays will never win a World Series.

BTW, since I don't think I've said it directly, congrats to you, fenway. :gulp: I can only imagine what you've gone through in the past few weeks.

Good grief the Red Sox are the coverboys on TIME????

This last column sums up MY mood

http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2004/10/31/joy_knows_no_bounds?mode=PF

I learned how to fly a few minutes before midnight on Oct. 27, 2004. I always thought I could fly, watching those seagulls gracefully drop out of the sky to spear yet another French fry from the MDC trash cans across from Kelly's Roast Beef in Revere, but I never had given it a shot. The Boston Red Sox gave me strength.
http://cache.boston.com/images/sports/redsox/2004/worldseries/c2_graphic.gif

"If the Red Sox can win the World Series," I said, stepping from the house just moments after reliever Keith Foulke fielded a ground ball and flipped it to first baseman Doug Mientkiewicz for the final out and the 4-0 sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals, "then I surely can fly."

Hey man, congrats. Your team gives me (and all other Sox fans) the legitimacy to tell Flub fans until next October "The Sox won the World Series!"

They are so stupid, they don't know Red from White...:D:

Not trying to rub it in but this link offers the entire Red Sox post season run via either video from FOX or the WEEI radio versions.

I would be curious on how you find our radio guys

I'm glad that the Red Sox finally got passed the Yankees and won a world series. This year they finally put together the right team to crush the yankees and they got rewarded with a world series win. Its been a great year to be a Red Sox fan!

I'm personally sick of all things Red Sox. They got old a week after the series. They were on every single channel on every single talk show. The Red Sox are the Yankees 2. Red Soxs fans hate the Yankees, but they are the same thing without the championships.

Its time for a regime change in the AL East. I would be happy to see the O's, Devil Rays, or Blue Jays win that divison, although it won't happen any time soon.

On this snowy weekend it has been fun to listen to the WEEI game calls from the utter despair of the 9th inning of the ALCS Game 3 to the cautious hope of Games 4 and 5 and then back to the Bronx. Castigleone's calls of A-Rod knocking the ball out of the pitchers glove is priceless as you can hear the "oh no" not again in his voice.
