Does anyone know what he's doing now? It's a shame that the whole labrum issue came up. I thought he was a class act with talent!

He's re-gluing his arm to his shoulder.

IIRC, a year or 2 ago he either signed or tried out with the Cubs. Not sure what became of that tho.

I'm careful not to ask that question too loudly up here.

What do you mean careful not to ask the question "up here?"

Ah - Blue Jays country, huh?

Ya know, you didn't give up much in David Wells - prior to the '04 season, he was stinking it up after leaving the Jays.

Huh?
2001 - we know he sucked, but....
2002 NYY 19-7; 3.75 ERA
2003 NYY 15-7; 4.14 ERA
2004 SDG 12-8; 3.73 ERA

I would say his '02 and '03 were just fine.

I suspect Wells stinks it up wherever he goes. But anyway...

Sirotka last pitched in the majors for the Sox in 2000. In early 2001, he was traded to Toronto in a 6-player deal that saw Wells go to the Sox. Sirotka, however, arrived in Toronto with arm troubles. Turned out it was a partial rotator cuff tear and the dreaded torn labrum. The Jays complained, but to no avail and the deal held up. Sirotka never pitched in a Jays uniform. I believe there was a short-lived comeback attempt with the Cubs, but no sign of him since.

LOL - Wells stuff - funny.

Sirotka - not so funny. I knew all that you've said, but I was hoping to find out what he's done since his attempted comeback.

He was last seen Spring Training 2004, IIRC, with the Cubs. Fox did a real Cubbie Kool Aid report about how they were giving him a second crack at baseball...

... And then they cut him like a week in.

As of this season, IIRC, ESPN.com listed him as a member of the Cubs.

And the 3 years prior to 2001 were pretty good too. Typical Sox luck to have him the 1 horrendous year in 7, coinciding with the loss of Frank.

I thought Sirotka was with the Cubbies organization in 2003. I remember channel 7 doing a ST report from Mesa with Sirotka warming up. The Cubbies were talking about how they expected Sirotka to be starter by at least mid-season and potentially before then. That was about the last time Sirotka was heard from.

I just checked MinorLeagueBaseball.com. They don't show Sirotka making any appearances in the minors since 1997, in 1998 he was up with the Sox all season.
