NEW YORK (AP) - The Boston Red Sox (http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/team/71588) capped off an improbable comeback in Game 7 of the AL championship series Wednesday night - and so did the TV ratings.

Boston's 10-3 win in Game 7 of the AL championship series on Wednesday was the highest-rated league championship series game since 1991, drawing a 19.4 national rating for Fox Sports
The ratings in New York and Boston were impressive. There was a rating of 56.6 in the Boston area, better than either of the Patriots' two Super Bowl wins. New York had a rating of 30.7.

So this series didn't beat out Braves/Pirates from almost 15 years ago? There have got to be a lot more television sets nowadays then there were then. Hmmmmm...maybe there is a problem or two with baseball........

My contention about Fox is that they don't have charasmatic or interesting announcers. Also, why do we twenty minutes of eye candy and a ex-jock in the studio before every game? Let the guys on the spot do the stuff and maybe the game will start ten or fifteen minute earlier.

Monday night footbal get by with five minutes of preliminaries, so why can't Fox do the same with baseball.

Problem isn't baseball, it is network television in general. Ratings will never equal the days before everyone had access to cable.

And "Seinfeld" never beat the ratings "The Beverly Hillbillies" enjoyed 30 years earlier, when there were far fewer television setsin the country. No wonder NBC canceled it.
