Here are the spring stats:

Harold
14 games
36 AB's
.306 average
.528 slugging
19 TB
7 RBI
2 HR
2 2B
11 Hits
3 Runs scored

Liefer
21 games
50 AB's
.240 average
.380 slugging
19 TB
10 RBI
1 HR
4 2B
12 Hits
6 Runs scored

The numbers are similar but for him to beat out Baines he had to do better.

Thanx Jerry,I didn't think Harolds numbers were that good, must have faced a lot of pitchers that went back to AAA

Baines really made a mistake playing another year. His final stats...
.131 BA, 11 singles, 1 double, no homers, and 6 RBIs. Not too impressive.

That's 12 hits closer to 3,000.

I can't fault Baines for wanting to get in the HOF,he may be the first player with over 1500 RBI not to get in.

Whoops, that was only 10 singles and 1 double. Sorry Harold, only 11 for you. At this rate, he will have to stick around 13 more seasons or so to get 3000.

Thirteen more years with Harold? I think we can find him a spot.

amazing, I didn't realize the old Harold was still around in the spring season--his 11 hits in 30+ ABs is as many as he could muster in half the regular season--boy did he fade

on the other hand, I'd say Liefer's a lifer in 260 range and not a great fielder either, so fill his spot with other prospects like needed C, etc
