Mind you, this is a guy that was a "life-long" cub fan, hes from Florida,
saw WGN all the time blah blah blah. Weve been pals for a few years,
and after the 2001 season, he said he was "DONE" with the Flubbies and
was becoming a SOX fan. I took that w a grain of salt, of course.
He jumped on the Media Bandwagon during the 2002-2003 Offseason.

Last year, in August, he printed up about 300 tshirts, very expensive
that Proclaimed "Cubs World Series 2003" with "In Dusty We Trusty" on
the front. He had to burn those. heh hehehehhehehhehhehe

This season, he told me for sure theyre going to the WS, and again,
in JULY, had these shirts printed up. They looked nice. "BELIEVE"
on the front and a Goat and "WORLD SERIES 2004" on the back.
Hehehehehhheheheheheheheheh. Hes Furious :D:

Hangar may correct me if I'm wrong on this one...

I remember a story from years ago when the Bulls were winning all of those titles. I think there is a edict from MLB and the NBA that if a championship shirt is produced and the team actually ends up losing, then that shirt must be destroyed, with proof shown to MLB and NBA respectively.

I'd imagine that's officially licensed products in those cases.

Hehehehehhheheheheheheheheh. Hes Furious :D:This reminds me of Greece and the Olympics. Because 1996 was the 100th anniversary of the modern Olympics, Greece was absolutely certain that they were going to host the 1996 games. So they started producing official 1996 Athens Olympics gear. Then Atlanta was announced as the host city. Ooops. Not sure what they did with all that stuff, but I still have my 1996 Athens T-shirt safely stored away. Hopefully it is worth something someday.

They send a lot of the losing-team t-shirts to Africa. I remember seeing a piece about it on ESPN once. There were all these kids running around Uganda with Buffalo Bills Super Bowl Champs shirts. I've always wanted a losing-team shirt like that.

I live in San Antonio and am a big Spurs fan. When we won the title in 2003, the Spurs had an official "bag man" after they had won the third game. The bag man's job was to carry a bag full of championship gear for the players if they clinched the series that night.

I remember the "bag man" being interviewed on local radio, and they asked him what would happen to the shirts and hats if the Spurs failed to win. The answer was that it would be donated to charity. He didn't mention where it would be donated, but I am sure it would not have been San Antonio. Can you imagine driving around downtown and seeing the homeless wearing fake championship gear?

And for that favor, us Sox fans will forever be in the debt of the Fighting Fish.

Does demand really drop that much during the time it would take to make those shirts after the event as to justify making all these shirts, half of which would have to be destroyed?

I know someone who has an Official 2003 Cubs National League Champions T-Shirt. It is one of the MLB produced shirts too, with the names of all the players on the back. (Much like the 2000 White Sox division T-Shirt)

I remember last year, for Halloween, a friend of mine dressed up as Steve Bartman at school. He was wearing an official Cubs 03 NL Champs shirt. It was his friend's, who said he said he was at the game where they were eliminated, and I guess they threw one or two in the crowd.

My Sister got a "Wrigley Field" sweatshirt (notice how they sell the ballpark as much as the team) with the World Series logo on it for half off at Kohl's last Christmas and gave it as a gift to my Grandpa. My Grandpa is a Sox fan, but if he wears the sweatshirt, he'll wear his Durham Bulls cap with it. One day someone asked him why he was wearing a minor league cap with that sweatshirt and he replied, "I'm wearing a minor league cap with a sweatshirt of a minor league team." :D:
