Just heard on the radio at lunch. Politte signs for 1 year, 1 million, with a 1.2 million option for 2006. They didn't say if it was a team or player option.

Hopefully he'll be the fourth option in the pen, behind Shingo, Marte, and Percival.

Cliff had some solid stretches before they overworked him. He's a decent 3rd option if he isn't overworked again next year, and a very good 4th option (which is where I hope he gets slotted).

I think it makes sense to bring him back. His injuries weren't arm related.

4 more relievers and we can actually have a decent bullpen. Politte and Shingo are the only 2 I have some faith in. Marte occasionally, but he gave up a ton of HR's this season.

If it's a team option for 2006, then JR just saved $300,000 for this season.

Don't hold your breath. Adkins, Cotts, and Marte will all be in the pen next year, whether we like it or not.

I would seriously consider puttin Grilli and Diaz in the 'pen.

Of course I mentioned the Grilli idea before the season started and was shot down.

But a pen of:

Shingo
Politte
Marte
Grilli
Diaz
Cotts

and 1 more good guy would be nice. It's not the strongest, but it's better then this years.
