Mike Yastrzemski, who played in more games than any Florida State baseball player, died this week.

The only son of Boston Red Sox great and Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski died on Wednesday a few days after undergoing hip surgery, according to the Friday afternoon edition of The Eagle-Tribune in Andover, Mass. The younger Yastrzemski, 44, lived in Holyoke near Springfield, Mass.

That's a shame. He played in one of the Crosstown Classics that I have on tape. I believe it was in the 1986 game.

I was at Wrigley for that. I seem to recall Pete Rose's kid may have been in that game as well.
