Los Ang
San Fran.

in what order would you be rooting for each team.
ill go with

1 Oakland 1 SL
2 Boston 2 LA
3 minn 3 SF
4 NyY 4 Atl

Secondly How Far do you think each will go.
this is how i feel
1 Oak

As long as the Twins, Yankee$, and Flubs dont go anywhere, I'm happy.
I'd like to see the Marlins again in the postseason, but we'll see about that.

If Boston doesnt win the AL, something is seriously wrong. NY just doesnt have the pitching, nor do they look like a playoff team in general. Mo' Rivera, Gordon and Quantril have gotta be tired out. Oakland's starting staff has been bad as of late and I don't see them going anywhere. Anaheim might win that division, but they dont have enough starting pitching either. The Twins might have enough pitching to do some significant damange. Santana is not going to lose and if Bradke's on, that might be all they need, but I still think the Red Sox are the most complete team in the AL. In the NL, I think that the Cardinals are just too good for everyone else, though they do seem to be on a real cold streak right now and hopefully that does not carry over to October.

I guess I wouldnt be too upset if the Red Sox won the World Series as long as it meant that their stupid fans would shut the hell up once and for all after maybe one offseason of talking smack.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but as someone who is
eternally pessimistic, I get the feeling that our Cubbies will
pull it out at the end and sneak into the playoffs. This has
nothing to do with them being better than SF or Houston,
just luckier. And their pitching is good for a short series. I
say look for them and St. Louis to meet in the NLCS. Look
also for Bud to sonorously declare that it's "good for baseball."

I will also demonstrate that I don't want it to happen by saying
right now that if the Cubs and Cardinals do NOT meet in the NLCS,
I will type in a post "I was wrong and I am an idiot" in big, bold RED
letters. I will also print up a copy of this prediction and dine on it
with some pasta sauce. Maybe I'll even turn it into a new Italian
dish. It'll be quite delicious, I'm sure.

As for the playoffs, I'm rooting for the Yankees. I used to hate them
when I was a kid, during the heyday of Billyball and Reg-gie, Reg-gie,
Reg-gie, but no longer. They are now my second favorite team behind
the Pale Hose, if for no other reason that I want to like and root for
a winning baseball team in my lifetime. Plus, they always beat up on
the Red Sox when it counts, sending the contingent of Carmine fans
who are whiny, arrogant, entitlement-demanding jerks into winter-
long spasms of whiny, arrogant, entitlement-demanding self-pity. And
that, quite frankly, is always fun.

Of course, I will boycott the postseason if the Cubs and Red Sox both
make it. The media hype will be just over the frickin' top. I swear if I
have to put up with another year of "CUBBIES! RED SOX! BILLY GOAT!
BAMBINO! WILL THE GODS ALLOW THESE TWO ETERNALLY OPPRESSED
TEAMS TO MEET IN THE SERIES? WILL IT BE THE APOCALYPSE? Oh,
their poor, suffering fans! Did Job suffer as greatly as these saintly
folks? CURSES! CURSES! CURSES!" I swear I will go out of my freaking
mind! (Actually, re-reading this post, I think I'm there already.) So
maybe "the baseball gods" will have pity on the rest of America this
year. (Although, quite frankly, I'm a "baseball gods" atheist.)

So, in order, I will root for:

Yankees
Cardinals
Braves

The Yankees and the Cardinals would be a great, classic World Series.
So go Yankees and Cardinals and Darn the darnable Red Sox and Cubs
to Heck.

Minny (to watch them destruct next season with the egos)
Boston (it's about time)
Oakland (Billy Beane  )
NYY (Evil Empire  )

St Louis (Tony)
Atlanta Yeah, (I guess so)
Los Ang (why not)
San Fran. (no way)

I really want to see the Astros here. I would have a hard time picking a team in a Cards-Astros Series.

World Series time:

Cards, Red Sox, Minny (maybe that could change quickly), then it's
what else is on TV, I do not care.

The Boston Red Sox are due to blow up in some spectacular fashion over a fluke play and lose WS Game 7 to St. Louis, 8-7.

as long as the cubs and twins do nothing I could care less about the playoffs. Normally it would be time to pay attention to hockey

I think we might end up seeing a situation in which San Francisco comes back to win the NL West and the Dodgers winning the Wild Card. SF is looking really good now and the Dodgers look like crap, but also like they could pull out the WC if they were forced into that situation

I have three wishes for the 2004 MLB Playoffs:

1. The Cubs watching it from home

2. The Twins going 3 and out

3. The Cubs watching it from home

I honestly like every team that has made the playoffs in the NL except the Braves. The Cardinals and Astros are favorites simply because they are opponents of the Accursed Ones (plus, I attended Cardinals and Astros games this year), while I like LA because of some of the players on that team.

In the AL, it is a different story. I will be cheering for the Yankees, however much in vain that will be. I despise the Twins and the Red Sox and wish great defeat upon them. This might be the year where I cheer for the NL team in the World Series.

number 1. team = cardinals

i want the astros to go somewhere but i dont think theyre going to. i dont believe they have the ability to go places in the playoffs, sadly. anyways..ill be going for the cards all the way..and not too much spankee or minny rooting coming from me.

lets see..who else.... o yes
angles...um...no
braves? not really
boston...nope (the white sox are the real sox)
frisco if they make it? nah
cards=yes

The NL:
Cardinals- they got a good shot even without Carpenter
Braves- haha yea right they will lose in the NLDS plus with Euss Ortiz not on the roster they are as good as done
Dodgers-eh im not to sure they got a mediocer Pitching Rotation
Astros- all they have is Oswalt and Clemons..... they will probobly go to the NLCS
The AL:
Yankees- CHOKE no doubt about it with brown out they are screwed and they have no pitching
Red Sox- Good Lineup, Solid Rotation ( Martinez, Schilling, Lowe, Arroyo,) maybe wake in the bull pen a decent Bull Pen they got a shot at the WS
Angels- Solid Lineup, Decent Pitching good defense with Vlad in RF possible ALCS contenders
Twins- Great Outfield Defense ( Stewert, Hunter) decent rotation they have a good shot at the ALCS also

Does anyone know what the matchups will be?

EDIT: I think the World Series will be 1. Anaheim or 2. Minnesota vs. 1. St Louis or 2. Houston. The Yanks will make it close but lose, the Red Sox choke, Atlanta loses in NLDS in 4 games and LA collapses from within.

Thank you. I suggest a nice marinara sauce, and plenty of it. To (mis)quote Crocodile Dundee, paper "tastes like crap, but it will keep you alive"

I'll probably skip the sauce part. I'll just wad it up and chew it a bit like

I agree. The Cardinals are, and always have been, my favorite team in baseball after the White Sox. I've said earlier that my dream World Series would be the White Sox vs Cardinals, except I'd probably miss it because I'd have dropped dead from a heart attack. The fact that Cub fans hate the Cardinals makes it even better, and any success they have all the more sweeter. From the A.L., I wouldn't mind seeing the Red Sox or Angels. I actually don't dislike the Red Sox like alot of people here do, although I do get sick and tired of the constant "1908 & 1918, Curse of the Billy Goat, Curse of the Bambino, Wrigley & Fenway are the oldest, most beloved parks in baseball, Red Sox and Cub fans are such longtime sufferers, and thus kindered spirits, wouldn't it be REALLY NEAT if they played in the World Series" thing that gets hammered into our heads constantly by the media. People may feel that Red Sox fans are just as bad as Cub fans, but from personal experience, they actually know baseball, and don't tolerate losing like the Cubby blue dopes on the northside do. I haven't really heard of any Red Sox fans going "Woooo ! Red Sox ! Woo ! Yeah, they lost today, but it's O.K., because Manny Ramirez hit a home run. It was sooooo cool ! Hey, check out the tan I got from sitting on top of the Green Monster ! Cool ! I'm glad the game's over. Now we can go drinking at the bars. Woooo ! Red Sox !" Anyway, no matter who wins the Series, it will be both relaxing, and fun to sit back and watch the playoffs without that sick, agonizing feeling we all had in our stomachs last year, hoping to God that the Wrigley Rats and their minions would not advance to and/or win the World Series.

I'm stillm going with the Cardinals. BTW, are any of you aware that the Cards are the only team who have played the Yankees in more than one World Series how have wom more than they have lost vs. The Yanks?

Cards beat Yankees 1926, 1942, and 1964

Yankees Beat Cards 1928 and 1943
