You are making my head spin. How has JR helped his competitor?

Going to PPV in the mid-80's effectively chasing Harry Caray to the flubbies
White Flag Trade
Blaming the fans
Saying, "It's always been a flubbie town".
Trying to move the team to Florida
Tearing down Comiskey
Going out of his way to forget about the tradition of the team just when Baseball was going through a nostalgia craze
Building New Comiskey and refusing to make any changes for a decade

You need more?

JR is the one who took the Sox off of free TV. That has to count for something. If free TV is good then not being on it is bad, right?

Sox used to be on WGN 80 times a year or something...

Ignore? The marketing department went right after the Cubs with the us/them commercials. JR is alot of things, cheap and stupid comes to mind, but he is not responsible for the Cubs.

I get the point that he is not committed to winning the way he should be, no doubt. However, what does that have to do with the Cubs? The Cubs have been good for 2 years and now all of a sudden JR is to blame for that?

Jerry Reinsdorfs Actions & Inactions are all a KEY part of the Cubs wrongly being thought of as "chicago's" team, an assumption he himself foolishly mentioned recently. The us/them marketing spots did not appear until 2004. Had we matched the Evil Blue Corporation year for year marketing-wise, might have made a difference.
We let cubpoganda run wild for 20something years......Unchecked.
If I owned this team, that would NEVER have happened. The team up north were very lucky in that the fanbase were not particularly intelligent, resulting in them believing every single thing Printed/Broadcast, including BAD things about US and this organization. That too, I wouldn NOT have standed for,
had I been the owner. But what do I know? Ive just been following this team since I could walk.

Are you saying that you want the Sox to be Chicago's team, or are you upset because JR does not spend liKe the Cubs do?

I'm just confused by the rant, in one instance you say the Cubs being able to rob other teams is ruining the game, than in another instance you are saying you want JR to do the same things.

All in all Hangar, I know it's a frustrating season and I think with the possibility of 2003 happening all over again on the North side, it's hard to take.

What need did the Sox have for Ramirez and Lofton last year? Crede and Everett were already on the team and Crede was the future as of last year.

The SOX WERE chicagos team at one point, and im upset that weve had the Core Team to have won a lot, but we refused to spend to put us over the top.

Yes, Because MLB foolishly and short-sightedly expanded, and ignored its revenue problems, its allowed perennial losing franchises to become "winners" simply by stealing other franchises players blatantly exchanging inferior players in return. This is good for baseball? Knowing KW, we wouldve given up good players for the same.

But to get back to the point, JR's Foolish Business Decisions have allowed the Giant Blue Arrogant Corporate Vulture to overtake and crush his own organization by simply refusing to Acknowledge
them as Competitors. A decision that in years, could go down as a one
of the most Foolhardy in business history. Our destiny is now not in our hands ........ just like last fall.

Which player did the Cubs steal from the Pirates that the Sox had a need for? Randall Simon? Kenny Lofton? And before you say Ramirez, the Crede experiment wasn't dead yet.

And as for thinking big versus thinking small, one of those two owners has a billion dollars at his disposal and no one to answer to if he blows it. That may make a bit of a difference there...

To keep his fan base, JR dismanteled the 83 division champs, put the games on ON TV, let Hawk fire LaRussa, threatened to move the team to Florida, tore down the old ballpark, and was a leader of the owners who encouraged the players to strike when the Sox were favored in Vegas to win the World Series.

WGN made the Cubs what they are, not JR. Sorry, I don't buy it.
Let's see JR and EE scratched out the eyes of Sox fans with Sportsvision, then after you'd think they woulda learned their lesson, they later gave up their WGN TV contract when they were back on free TV. Einhorn was a media guy and totally misunderstood the market dynamics and JR being a Brooklyn fan originally should have his understood blue collar fan base. This is about the biggest set of gaffs in the shift of local baseball fan base to crumbling Wrigley Yuppiedom, as the Trib laughs all the way to the bank ... Ribbie and Rhubarb!?! gimme a break

These events happened long after JR abdicated the Chicago fans to the baby bears ... when the chairman makes a statement like "Chicago's always been a Cubs town" which is an outright ingorant, intentionally blind just plain wrong statement/position, its only characteristic of the fundamental problem, and it starts at the top. JR is absolutely responsible for the decline of the Sox fan base.
