Just reminding everyone how fortunate we are to not have this guy around the club anymore. His ERA ballooned to almost 7.50 last night...so just remember that when Mike Jackson comes in from the bullpen with his huge ERA - it could be worse! Props to KW for getting rid of this guy when we had the chance. Here are his current stats:

This certainly has been a rough year, but it most certainly would've been worse with this guy on the team. I think that deserves a dancing banana :bandance:

He also had 34 saves last year for montreal. When is the last time anyone on our team had 34 saves?

Keith foulke?

He was also hit with a line drive on the 6th, that could have a little to do with his poor play as of late.

A dancing banana celebrating Biddle's failure? That sucks. He was an all-around decent player for the Sox and seemed like a great guy. Celebrate the failures of guys like Royce Clayton...not Rocky Biddle.

I'd take quality over quanity any day of the week. He had a 4.65 ERA to go along with 7 blown saves and 8 losses. He would not have been the closer last year anyways. IMHO, saves can be a misleading and overrated stat.

Yeah but he also played for the expos, that probably has to mess with your psyche a little bit. I'm sure there is a real lack of intensity on that team.

And a 4.65 era isn't terribly BAD per say, considering mike jacksons era should be around 6 with all the inherited runners he's allowed to score.

Which is basically who we replaced biddle with.

YAH KENNY!

Dude, Mike Jackson wasn't on last year's team. Don't take Biddle's stats from last year and compare them to jackson's stats this year. Jackson only made the team because our minor league system couldn't supply us with major league level players.

Biddle was good in 2003, his ERA only got into the 4's last season because he had an awful August. I would've gladly kept him in our pen last season if we could. OTOH, Colon was a workhorse last year and I think that's more important than a reliever. WE had a pretty decent pen last year with marte and flash leading the way. too bad a certain person who will not be named was in that bullpen also...:whiner:

I would not be unhappy to have Rocky in a Sox uniform as the fifth starter right now.

Yes I know. But do you think rocky was available to be in our pen this year, that piece of crap jackson would be on this team?

No.

Hence why I said what I said.

Playing for Montreal these last couple of years has had its hardships -- home games in French-speaking Montreal and Spanish-speaking Puerto Rico and a long way to travel when the team hits the road. I would love to see Rocky having a more successful season. He is a class guy who loved playing for the Sox, and the Sox would have better pitching today if he were on the team.

That is awful. But I'd still rather see the rockmeister out there every mop up opportunity rather than the ageless wonder. He showed some pretty decent talent when he was out here. Not too mention the best facial hair in the league.
